Great Theorists Discuss Today's Porn Titles: Titan's Telescope (2008)

BR-TelescopeTH.jpgBecause we don't have time, the way our friends at Fleshbot do, to review all the porn that comes across our desks, The Sword has asked our friends in academia for a little help making sense of the latest porn titles.*  First off, Titan Media's Telescope, a delicate rumination on the power of the gaze/gays dichotomy, starring Diesel Washington and modeled on Brian DePalma's post-Hitchcockian thriller Body Double.

Telescope explores the complex sexual tension created through the persistent peeping that star Diesel Washington's character does using a fancy telescope on the balcony of an expensive San Francisco high-rise flat. He also foot-fucks two people simultaneously and invents a new sexual position. There was much to discuss.

Feminist Film Theorist

"A cinematic experience like Titan's Telescope offers a number of possible pleasures. One is scopophilia. There are circumstances in which looking itself is a source of pleasure, just as, in the reverse formation, there is pleasure in being looked at. Telescope satisfies a primordial wish for pleasurable looking, but it also goes further, developing scopophilia in its narcissistic aspect."

Father of Psychoanalysis

"Pleasure in looking (scopophilia) becomes a perversion if it is restricted exclusively to the genitals, or if it is concerned with the overriding of disgust, or if, instead of being preparatory to the normal sexual aim, it supplants it, say, with feet."

Gender Theorist

"I think that every sexual position is fundamentally comic, but The Bully is really, like, a laugh riot."

Karl Marx
Father of Communism

"Law, morality, religion, are to this Diesel Washington so many bourgeois prejudices, behind which lurk in ambush just as many bourgeois interests."

Radical Feminist

"Love is the victim's response to the rapist ... but I can not get enough of that Francois Sagat!"

* For all you nerds who might consider calling 'bullshit,' all of these quotes were taken completely out of context from published sources and tweaked to suit our needs.
