Another Pride Season Kicks Off: Prepare to Feel Ashamed

GC-PrideParadeSched08TH.jpgGet out your beads and call your dealer: it has begun.  May marked the beginning of the gay pride season, which starts in Las Vegas and Long Beach and doesn't end until fucking November when Palm Springs has theirs. We swear we are proud, sometimes. And we know it's important for all you suburban and rural gays to strap on those Camel Baks full of vodka and descend on your nearest metropolis to drink and dance amongst throngs of your own for the first time since last year. We totally can't wait.

As for us in SF, we're probably going to be slightly embarrassed all weekend like we usually are, wondering if too much blatant pride doesn't make one want to circle back to shame, while everyone wanders around muttering "Happy pride" and oscillating between hungover and drunk for three days straight.  Maybe after the Harvey Milk movie comes out the younger generation will learn why all this parading started in the first place, and pick up new vocab words like "Stonewall" and "Anita Bryant."

CHECK IT: The Sword and our pornier sister site, Nakedsword, will be out in force with the Get Off On Us Street Team, including Falcon stars and hot male models, in the select cities listed below. Check back after each sordid weekend for photos and footage. (* means there's a special Sword Guide  ** means we have photos to share)

Well- if you are attending all of those festivals with porn stars in tow- aren't you a part of what makes it something to sorta be ashamed of?

I'm all for adult entertainment- I'm just thinking that it has a place and time. And if one is going to lecture about Harvey Milk- maybe they should scale back the naked men they cart all around the country and instead contribute in a more tasteful and appropriate way.

Sad but true. There's little to be proud of at Pride any more.

All porn all the time is just boring.
