CA Court Says We Shouldn't Not Be Able To Register At Crate & Barrel and Spend Rest of Our Miserable Lives With One Person

The California Supreme Court just now announced its ruling that any statewide ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional-and we just realized this means our mothers are going to start asking us when we're gonna get married. The 4-3 decision lights a fire under the asses of about a trillion fundie zealots who are trying to get constitutional amendments, state and local and national, on the ballot this November. In other news, we're hungover and still trying to wrap our heads around this as every gay blog and snooze-flash aggregator in the universe breathlessly spits out reports on this actually significant bit of news.

Read the full decision here, and we'll offer a bit more witty analysis if the mood strikes. Mostly, we'd just like to go lie down.

UPDATE: County courthouses around the state are set to receive a flood of marriage applications, which will only be able to be processed in 30 days when the court's decision takes effect. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is set to give a press conference at noon today.

ANOTHER UPDATE: The NYT just posted this awful picture.

AND ANOTHER: The LA Times' choice of image is little better, featuring some nice older lesbians while SFGate chooses this jolly looking straight couple with a big old rainbow flag, and posts this slightly cloying video. Also, the Governator "respects" the court's ruling, and GavGav delivers the line he's been saving for months now: "It's about human dignity. It's about civil rights. It's about time."
