In an interview with the Associated Press, co-stars of the upcoming Get Smart, Steve Carell and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, described their lack of hesitation when it came to having a gay kiss in the spy comedy. "The Rock has softer lips," Carell quipped obviously to probable laughter, "He smells like strawberry shortcake. For me, that's why they call him The Rock. He rocks people's worlds." Used to assuming gay positions after his role as the gay uncle in Little Miss Sunshine, it comes as no surpsise that Carell would shrug off something as silly as some man-on-man mouth-to-mouth.
For his part, The Rock reasoned "It was just one of those things where I thought well, you know, `What
could be the most entertaining and funniest moment that we could think
of that would still make sense and still kind of root in reality?'" The reality part of that scenario was, no doubt, in reference to The Rock's obvious homosexuality, which everyone knows about, and is 100% established. He continued, "I thought if Jake Gyllenhaal can do it, Will Smith can do it, then I can do it, too. I'm going to own it. I was like, `Give me those lips right now. Right now.'"
When he said "Will Smith can do it," The Rock again referred to reality, in which Will Smith does do it, as frequently as possible, and that is also 100% established. Get Smart opens June 20th in a gay cinema near you.
