You're not in LA for Pride, so care of The Sword's tireless editors, we bring you this roundup (by
no means complete, or even-handed) of stuff going on for those of the
homo persuasion this weekend in the two meccas we currently have
bandwidth to cover, San Francisco and New York. Check back soon to see
us cover more gay urban centers near you (sorry, Cheyenne, we may never
get to you).
Our heavily editorialized listings after the jump...
Friday
Charlie Horse @ The Cinch 1723 Polk Street (bet. Clay & Washington) 10 PM, show at midnight
It's
a hike if you don't live in the Russian Hill/Nob Hill/'Loin vicinity,
but it beat out Trannyshack last year for best drag show, and it's at a
bar that is sort of country-western themed but also has a ceiling
covered in colored in those multicolored Mexican paper flags.

Saturday
Collide @ Club 222 222 Hyde Street 10PM This place used to be The Blackhawk Jazz Club and now has homemade pizza, Pilsner Urquell tallboys and a basement dancefloor. It's in the middle of the crackiest part of the Tenderloin, and it may not have taken off yet exactly but you always gotta work to find the coolest parties in town. Expect the crowd to thicken around 12 (Also, it's not gay exactly... their MySpace lists itself as "Bi.")

Friday
Greg Araki Screening & Q&A @ BAM Rose Cinemas 30 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn 9:40 PM
Once called a "gay Thelma & Louise," Gregg Araki's film The Living End (which is being screened in a Remixed and Remastered version with a Q&A with Araki afterward) is a classic in what was once called New Queer Cinema. We don't even know what to call it now, and it doesn't need categorization. Just know that two HIV positive fags kill a cop and go on the road with the motto "fuck everything."

Sunday
Garden of Ono @ Hotel Gansevoort 18 9th Avenue 6 PM - Midnight
Josh Wood, DJ Steve Travolta and hosts Nick Van Bremen and Erik Bottcher are bringing back this series of summer garden parties, on the roof in the Meat Packing District. Last year Michael Musto gushed it was "a big oh-yes," and though everyone in New York tires of things really quickly, Cuckoo Club still hasn't died so maybe this more mellow alternative won't either. Reserve a cabana ahead if you want to be fancy like that.
