Porn Star Design Star Suspended From Police Job While His Internal Affairs Are Probed
Porn Star Design Star Suspended From Police Job While His Internal Affairs Are Probed

IN-MikeyVerdugoDesignStarPorn.jpg Could a Florida police officer have been using his handcuffs to get his BDSM kicks? According to police department in Hollywood, Florida, it's possible: they've suspended an officer while they determine if Mikey Verdugo, a contestant on HGTV's Design Star, appeared in the 1996 porn film Rope Rituals. According to Hollywood Police Spokesman Lt. Manny Marino, Verdugo's been placed on paid leave pending the outcome of a fact-finding Internal Affairs investigation.
When Jack Shamama, an GayPornBlog.com editor, broke the story of  Verdugo, billed as "Mikey V." on the HGTV reality competition, and as Jeremy Wess in Rope Rituals he had no idea it'd eventually lead to trouble at his job.

"I feel badly about the possibility of him being fired," said Shamama, who notes that the information came via an anonymous tip to his highly trafficked blog, "but being in a porno isn't a crime and isn't something to be ashamed about. We didn't out a random police officer, we reported on someone who was entering the public arena through a reality television show."

As for Mike Verdugo, he still hasn't admitted that the man in the film is him, and is keeping quiet about his participation. However, sources within the industry say that Verdugo did appear in the film, and and at least one studio has expressed interest in signing Verdugo for more films.

Shamama added: "This whole affair has my stomach tied up in knots." Not, however, the kind of knots Verdugo likes to be tied up with when he gets masturbated.

It's a good thing that Shamama and his blog are out there to ensure that we can all be up to date important news like the possible 1-film porno past of a cop appearing on a basic cable reality TV show. And, that you guys are here to provide leering commentary on the fact that that news has likely sent a 10-year career as a police officer down the crapper. Hope he's saved the hordes of money I'm sure he pulled down from that film, because it doesn't look like he's ever gonna see his pension.

And, really, Shamama and Co. had no idea it would eventually lead to trouble at his job? Then, for a porn producer, he's incredibly naive.

Just another example of the industry taking care of its own.

Jesus Kay-RHYST ... is no one responsible for their own actions anymore!? Its not like he's some innocent bystander of a smear campaign! Was forced into doing the porn or being on the show? Plus this guy's posted every clip of himself ever on TV upon his myspace ... he's obviously looking for as much attention as possible. Let's not forget he has an interior decorating side business and he totally promoted himself on the show as the "sexy cop" guy. I'm sure he is loving all this pub. and every queen in south florida is lining up to have him redo their kitchen!!!

Why is it that the focus is on reporters who report the known facts, or on the officer for being less than forthcoming? How about shining the light on the utter absurdity of this suspension and "investigation." How does his one appearance in one legal video so many years ago merit any kind of action by the police force? It has absolutely no impact on his ability to perform his job. Just because his superiors may be embarrassed by the publicity is no justification for this blatant discrimination.

"...but being in a porno isn't something to be ashamed about. "

Well, not if you're in the porn industry. But to the rest of the world, yeah, it kinda is.
