In an advertising campaign about as original as the CW's 90210, The Gap reaches its manicured shark fins into the publishing, art, film, and modeling worlds to cast an "unlikely" group of young professionals in the depressing conglomerate's new ad campaign. To display the universal appeal of their revolutionary (LOL!) brand, the advertisements feature such publishing faces as Cecilia Dean and Ryan McGinley next to fill-in-the-blank Mad Libs.
"Fashion your own--path," urges Julia Restoin Roitfeld,
showcasing her individuality in a cropped peacoat over a white
button-down frock. "Discover your own--inner beauty" mocks the gorgeous waif Karlie Kloss from beneath a baggy trench! GAP IS SO VERSATILE! Just like... American Express?
Fortunately, there is one uniform, time-honored standby that we can appreciate:
hot, new, young male models like Clark Mallon. The saving grace in
another dismal reminder that The Gap is still around made us trip like
an Achilles Heel. Despite how unknown The Gap wants to pretend its
subjects are, this campaign announces Clark's official arrival into
mainstream male model mania, and we couldn't feel any merrier to meet
him. Below, check out his big close-up, followed by shirtlessness.
