Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson Pissed About Use of Their Song to Promote Sarah Palin
Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson Pissed About Use of Their Song to Promote Sarah Palin

Understandably, Ann and Nancy Wilson of the rock duo Heart told Entertainment Weekly they felt "completely fucked over" by the Republicans' use of their song "Barracuda" during their convention this week, presumably in reference lipsticked Alaskan pitbull Sarah Palin.  To wit, after Universal Music Publishing and Sony BMG issued a cease and desist letter to the Republican National Committee, the Wilson sisters issued the following statement:

"Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image. The song 'Barracuda' was written in the late 70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. (The 'barracuda' represented the business.) While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there's irony in Republican strategists' choice to make use of it there."

We share their anger, and we think that a much more appropriate song choice would be "Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" by Julie Brown.

For Austin.

A word of advice you're an idiot who represents everything that is wrong with youth/entertainment obsessed America. Cleary you are not an artist of any kind or have any respect for artist and the arts (which believe it or not can include popular music). You must be a huge McCain supporter; because there is no way any progressive socially conscious person would agree that Heart should feel honored having their song chosen to represent Paulin. Lastly fyi, they didn't choose a song that no one remembers, duh, they chose a song EVERYONE remembers, hence choosing that song.
Obviously I am a Heart supporter.
