Brent Corrigan’s Psycho Boyfriend Movie Opens Today In New York

It’s been many months since the trailer was first released for Truth, starring Sean Paul Lockhart (a.k.a. Brent Corrigan) and Rob Moretti, who also wrote and directed the film. And tonight is its official opening night, with a theatrical run starting at New York’s Quad Cinema, where many a gay feature has seen its first release.

The premise is basically a classic gay nightmare: Two guys meet on Grindr. One is sexy and young and needs love and one is older and falls in love easily. The younger one keeps saying that thing that should always be a red flag, “Why are you so nice to me?” They fall in love even though the younger one has a bunch of Mom baggage and was adopted. And then eventually the older one starts to pull away, or something, and the younger one ties up and tortures and (possibly?) kills the older one because he has an “acute reaction to rejection.”

It’s a first for Corrigan/Lockhart, who hasn’t had a starring role, and certainly not one this intense, thus far in his legit acting career, though fans will remember he stole the show as a merman in Another Gay Sequel, and he’s also appeared in Judas Kiss, I Was a Teenage Werebear, and he played a hooker in that hot scene in The Big Gay Musical.

Truth co-stars Blanche Baker, an old friend of Moretti’s who played Molly Ringwald’s older sister on Valium in Sixteen Candles, and she won a supporting-actress Emmy for her role in the 1978 mini-series Holocaust, which starred Meryl Streep.

Below, a behind-the-scenes video, showing everybody on set in New Jersey. Listen as Moretti talks sheepishly about Corrigan’s “background,” and then hear Brent/Sean talk about what it was like being behind actual bars on set, and how he physically reacted.

Also, there’s a quick shot of him naked in the shower with Moretti with a sock on his junk, and one one of Brent doing push-ups before the cameras rolled, to pump his pecs. And you get to see Brent on a horse. And let’s not forget how much Brent likes horses.

If you’re in New York, the movie is playing at the Quad, at 34 West 13th Street, at 1 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. tonight, and Moretti will be doing a Q&A afterward both tonight and tomorrow. But you can also watch on Vimeo On Demand right here.

  1. some basic diction classes and work on properly emoting would probably bring him to average. he speaks way too fast. when he yells..lose the words, when he talks soft lose the words. he wants to jump into real acting without any education. some can..very well. but he can’t

  2. Gays — we judge each other by our looks. Gays making movies — the most successful embrace high camp, or ugliness, or horror, or the absurd. Trying to make a drama about ourselves that anyone is going to take seriously or give a shit about means someone’s gotta look past surface beauty (which sells movie tickets) and tell the truth. Perhaps for gays, at this time, as of now, there is nothing beyond looks that’s has value.

  3. Someone please give Mark (top of the page) his meds quick. LOL Or is that you Brent secretly using another name to hype this Block Cluster fuck of a movie.

  4. Brent can hurt me, torture me, and kill me with his own hands whenever he wants, I think I could enjoy it as a S&M session.

And I really hope there is a XXX version of this film.

Does anybody know if this film is gonna be screened at European cinemas?

  5. This garbage got a theatrical release? I caught about 20 seconds of that behind the scenes footage, what with Corrgian and his poofy hair throwing vials of pills on the floor. Very Valley of the Dolls. Sean Paul Lockhart, who are you?!?!?

  6. This is a cinematic master piece, right up there with Gone with the Wind and Schindler’s List. Sean Paul Lockhart is SSSOO three dimensional I almost believe that he’s a sociopath waiting to happen. I highly recommend this movie and hope that the Screen Actors Guild, the Academy and MTV jump all over this and give it the attention it deserves.
