Exclusive: Tommy Defendi Talks About Shooting ‘Dirty Rascals,’ and His Favorite Bel Ami Boys

Wednesday, November 5 is the big day for the debut of NakedSword’s big co-production with Bel Ami, Dirty Rascals. It’s a sex comedy based loosely on the Michael Caine/Steve Martin movie Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, only the con men here are American porn stars Tommy Defendi and Connor Maguire.

Their marks are Dato Foland and the Eastern European studs of Bel Ami, including Phillipe Gaudin, Gino Mosca, Rick Lautner, Marcel Gassion, Brian Jovovich, and Tim Campbell.

Today we bring you the exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from Scene 1, with Tommy and Dato, and today The Sword talked to Tommy about his experience shooting the movie in Prague back in June.

What was your favorite sex scene to shoot in Dirty Rascals?

I actually only have one, and it’s with Dato Foland. He was so sweet, and had a lot of great energy and he’s fuckin’ gorgeous. He has the most amazing eyes! I love eyes and teeth, it’s what I find most attractive about men, and Dato’s were intoxicating. Did I say he’s gorgeous.

Non-sex scene?

My favorite dialogue scene was with Connor in Prague. It’s the scene in the beginning of the movie where we were sitting at the restaurant and plotting our plan of attack to steal the jewels. After we had shot many takes, the conversation started to flow, and our connection was very playful and natural since we’re good friends off camera. It was very organic and my favorite scene. Connor and I have been friends for four or five years so it was fun to just shoot the shit with him on camera. It set the tone for our relationship in the movie, as best friends.

Who do you think is a better actor, you, Darius Ferdynand, or Connor Maguire?

Ha! That’s hard. Darius is really good with his lines, so punctual. But between me and Connor…? Hmmmm? Connor is probably a better actor. He’s witty and a total smartass. The script was well written for him. I would love to pat myself on the back and say I was the better actor but I would have to say Connor. I can’t wipe the smile off my face when he’s around.

Which of the Bel Ami boys did you make friends with off camera?

I loved all the Bel Ami guys — they were great. But I’d have to say my favorite was Rick Lautner — he was really cool and spoke amazing English. He was so sweet, very helpful, he made the process a lot easier. He had a great attitude and understood where we were coming from as Americans in a foreign country. I had never worked that hard overseas and he understood us and made me feel at ease. [Editors’ note: Rick Lautner was the production assistant on the shoot, as well as the main featured model from Bel Ami.]

What’s this about all the bees on set when you were shooting outdoors?

OHMYGOD the bees!! The bees and the heat were something that I was not ready for. Especially since I am allergic to bees. We were shooting photos in the garden and dodging critters, then the rainstorm, thunder and lighting! But there were many factors that came into that scene that were unexpected. Issues kept coming but we all bonded and it was a great scene. There were a bunch of cobwebs in that barn! It was crazy. I also broke my cell phone. Dato was so cute and the crew was great — they all kept me going.

You broke your cell phone?

Yes, I broke my phone during the scene (the screen cracked) and we were shooting/staying in the middle of nowhere (countryside outside the city of Prague — about an hour drive) and I couldn’t just go to the apple store to get a new one. There wasn’t even a store to buy cigarettes in the little town, let alone a new iPhone.

And why did your garden scene with Dato get cut short and have to move inside?

So, there were thunderstorms! It started raining and thunder/lighting – we had avoid the storm. In the end, the location change played off great and made it more erotic to shoot a scene in the rain and then transfer indoors. It gave the scene some kind of more creative freedom. We were staying in a huge castle with acres of land, there were so many great spots at the location so it was fun to actually fuck in a few of them. I think it actually created a sexier scene.

How did you feel overall about the Dirty Rascals shoot and the experience of shooting such a large dialogue movie in another country…?

At the end of the day, it was very fullfilling. After doing this, and after shooting porn for many years, for so long, and after doing so many types of films with many different studios, it was awesome to go to Prague with a company like NakedSword. It was a great experience. I felt like I was with family and it was really enjoyable to have that camaraderie. People rarely have the chance to do something like this – get flown across the world to fuck on camera and have such a big role in a dialogue movie. It was very fulfilling and gratifying. It was a little rough (long flight, jetlag, huge production schedule and a lot of work!) but you know, the greater the challenge the greater the reward. I was very overwhelmed when I arrived at the castle and at the end I felt very satisfied. I’m very proud of this film.

And now, here’s the behind-the-scenes footage from Scene 1, in which Tommy and Darius fuck, outdoors, and then indoors.

  1. yes, he has some looks but he is a BIG BORE in gay seks, really a big bore…u normally have pretty good taste in men mr t-bird but now you disappoint me, love tommy? jeeezzzzzzzzzzzzz

  2. He’d be my first choice to hire for an afternoon, but he’d have to chew like seven pieces of gum to get the cigarette stink out first.

  3. I like Tommy and enjoyed reading his comments. He doesn’t seem to be stuck on himself. I liked that he said Connor was a better actor and talked about how beautiful Dato Foland is.

  4. So Naked Sword takes Tommy Defendi to Europe to film with the Bel Ami boys but he actually doesn’t have a sex scene with any of the Bel Ami boys????? In what world does that make any sense at all?

  5. So Tommy’s a bi now? Well the only things matter here is DATO FOLAND he is such a Beautiful guy. The most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen in my life. Marry me my man <3

    1. I happened to spend two days with three Bel Ami boys: Kevin, Rick and Gino. At the part there was a black gentleman there and if there was any racism in them neither he nor I noticed.

Just out of curiosity, who the fuck are you to arbitrarily accuse people you never met of racism?

By the way, he’s absolutely right about Rick. He’s definitely the most gracious host I’ve seen.
