Gay Porn Stars React To Supreme Court’s DOMA and Prop 8 Rulings

Following the Supreme Court’s two decisions this morning that found the so-called “Defense of Marriage Act” (DOMA) unconstitutional and that dismissed an appeal to a lower court’s ruling that California’s Proposition 8 was unconstitutional, gay porn stars were overjoyed.

Several gay porn stars have been immediately and directly affected by the rulings, including superstar Brent Everett.

Thanks to DOMA, Canadian-born Everett has been forced to live outside of the United States for most of this year, separated from his American husband Steve Pena (the two were married in California in 2008, before the passage of Prop. 8).

Now, with both DOMA and Prop. 8 overturned, the two can be reunited in California as a legally married couple, recognized by the state and the federal government.

A sampling of other reactions today on Twitter:

  1. Oh Austin, every time I think I can’t love your sense of humour any more you go and leave me laughing my arse off on the floor, if Davey Wavey won’t marry you I will in a heartbeat, and yes ‘m uncut!

  2. There seems to be lack of comprehension that prop 8 is defeated. It just means the California electorate should have been the plaintiffs in the case challenging the earlier verdict in the State Supreme Court- this is Not the reversal of state laws refusing to recognize gay marriage. Theoretically, if the incumbent Cali governor vacates the seat, the newly elected governor can challenge the verdict again in court. Of course, it depends on SCOTUS listening to the case over again, with the correct plaintiffs.

This situation can be avoided if gays/poor people/ blacks actually don’t vote against their own interests by electing republicans. Seriously, people need to vote, and in droves. Otherwise the select few has a say in this process.

    1. Fuck you and any group that will tell me whom to vote for. I have a voice and a right to be heard. So, as a poor gay black man that loves the right/conservative side, FUCK OFF.

        1. Not joking…ok, maybe I was a bit crazy with my love of the right, but the point I wanted to make was no matter what I believe I have a right to vote for whomever I want.

          1. Go ahead Eddie, but don’t hold your breath.

This isn’t about the right to vote. This is about being practical. None of the right has your interest at heart. Granted, some of the left doesn’t either…but at least they don’t demonize groups for fear votes.

And you can be damn sure, if a Repub CA Gov wins on the campaign of pursuing prop 8, he will be able to with no qualms. SCOTUS will probably want to hear this case again.

  3. Big step forward but so long to go. I thought the decision was going to be 6-3 but DOMA was struck down by only one vote majority.

  4. Sweet now Ryan Rose can beat up his future husband, or husbands. He’ll be a regular white trailer trash husband!

  5. I’m waiting for some G4Per like Rod Daily to scream foul and this is the demise of our republic because Donald Trump sais so, or better yet, a gay Republican porn star like Phillip Aubrey to tweet that somehow this will take away jobs for Americans

      1. I find Conner’s sense of humor to be delightful and never hurtful or destructive (his obvious physical assets are delightful also!).

        1. Well, consider this hell freezing over. I actually agree with the fucker. Oh well. Live and…what was that again?!?-oh fuck it.

          1. Of course, if he had said that voting and citizen participation in the american democracy had nothing to do with this SCOTUS decision, well, I would call him a shithead again…but he didn’t. So I can’t complain. Sob.

    1. I like him, but I only want him to open his mouth to be stuffed with cock, cum, and/or piss. It’s all he’s good for.

  6. Brent Everett’s tweet really hits you, since DOMA and Proposition 8 really affected his relationship the most. Glad to hear he can now come back to the US.

    1. I don’t know if the reversal of DOMA has the ability to effect immigration/visa process for gays. There hasn’t been an instance yet(obviously). I think it could happen considering our current administrations stance on gays and marriage, however, immigration reform might have more of an impact on this issue as well. Time will tell, but don’t hold your breath waiting.

      1. The fact both are gay porn stars complicates matters when the USCIS investigates their relationship. They have to deem the marriage real before continuing in the green card process. They would probably need to file joint tax returns for several years, and live in the same residence for a significant portion of the time.

I think Steve has a better chance becoming a Canadian than Brent becoming a US citizen. But try and find out. I’m curious to know myself.

        1. And where exactly has Steve done porn? He’s done a few bj scenes at Brent’s website, but I don’t constitute that as being a porn star. And clearly has has a real job. And why the hate on Steve. Is it just that you don’t find him attractive? Seriously you’re fucking weird. I may not know what either of them are like in real life, but I’m sure you don’t either. They clearly love each other and have had a more stable relationships than many of the pornstar relationships past and present. And maybe because Steve isn’t directly a part of the industry.

          1. I don’t “hate” steve-I can’t cause I don’t know him or Brent. I’m just being sarcastic in my jealousy.

However, not so much in my feeling they won’t get the same treatment from the green card process because both are in porn.

By the way, porn is the only field were you can qualify a person as a “star” because they did only one scene.

          2. BTW, UPDATE: USCIS refused Brent’s right to return to the States.

Case Closed. I am correct in the assumption. He doesn’t have a snowballs chance to become a citizen.

    2. Steve’s twitter feed has him kissing and holding some blond with a buzz cut-June 28th. And he seems to be really having a blast without Brent in WeHo. I think this isn’t going to help there case either. It doesn’t seem to be affecting him as much as Brent. But, whatever!

I think Brent is going to be in Canada for a long, long, long, time. His husband really isn’t fighting for him.

      1. Do these two have a lawyer? Are they even organized to attempt this? Probably not. More power to them, but they need to get their shit together.

  7. Love the inclusion of Mick Huckabee’s tweet.

These rulings are one step closer to actual equality. Soon snake oil salesmen realize they no longer can use homosexuality as boogeyman to scare people into buying (into) their bullshit.
