‘Go-Go Boy Interrupted,’ a Show About an Aging Go-Go Boy That Looks Kind of Funny

Adorable actor and Groundlings member Jimmy Fowlie, who was in this hilarious PSA that I posted a couple months ago, is doing a new show at the Groundlings in L.A. and made this web video as a teaser.

The show, which for now is only being performed one night, on June 30, is already sold out. But maybe this should be a web series? I think it should be a web series anyway.

The show also features funny man Drew Droege, he of Chloe Sevigny and Not Looking fame, as a drag queen.

Fowlie told the HuffPo he was inspired by some real-life experience working as a go-go boy himself while he was in college:

In college I had worked as a go go boy at this really popular club — and it was such an interesting world with outrageous characters: larger than life drag queens and 19-year-old party boys. I had actually been a disaster myself and famously broke my arm in a fist fight and and then worked a couple days dancing with my cast on. Anyways — it just got me thinking — what happens when the party is over and someone can’t leave? Dancing at a club doesn’t give you any ‘real world skills.’ In other words, just like my degree in theater, it is worthless. When gay guys are using their youth and sexuality as currency, what happens when you get ‘aged out’ of your career?

The same, obviously, can be asked of porn stars.
