China banned internet porn yesterday in its biggest blow to teenagers since killing a bunch of them twenty years ago in Tiananmen Square.

The goal, according to various government agencies there, is to "purify the Internet's cultural environment and protect the healthy development of minors."

Search engine censorship is a murky field for the same reason that your local headshop owner would prefer you call it a "water pipe" instead of a "bong." Search engines obviously don't generate porn; they just point users to it.

Still, Google is playing along with those frigid Chinese officials who warn that violators of the stringent internet regulations will be severely punished.

The opening sentence of the entry reminds me why I love this blog so much. Your writers are so damn funny/snarky.
