 Designer Colin Corbett just had a show in London featuring one-of-a-kind jockstraps gilded with things like fake jewels, rubber gloves and silk orchids.
The show--which follows on the butt-plug art we pointed out in December--was called "Strapped: The Art of the Decorated Jockstrap" and it just finished up a stint at the Eckersley Gallery at the London College of Communication.
Our personal favorite would have to be the 'fisting jockstrap' (pictured, left), made out of red bandannas and featuring a holsters for rubber gloves and poppers.
Corbett says this about his art:
“What I find interesting about the jockstrap is the correlation between ‘macho’ and ‘camp’,” says the designer. “I had a stock phrase for anyone who looked uncomfortable, ‘oh, he’s got his diamante jockstrap on inside out.’ I’d never seen a diamante jockstrap. Finally I made one and it caused such mirth, I expanded to other designs using rhinestones (Jewel Support series) and masks (Masked Ball).”
