San Francisco Group Seeking to Name Sewage Plant After George W. Bush

And no, this is not an April Fool's joke. A grassroots organization called The Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco is collecting signatures to sponsor a ballot initiative that would rename one of the city's wastewater treatment plants in honor of lame duck President George W. Bush. 60% of San Franciscans already voted to approve an initiative in November 2006 advising the US Congress to impeach President Bush.
The latest jab at Dubya comes via a group of San Francisco "entertainers, politicos and businesspeople" (i.e. Sodomites and liberals) who have started a Meetup.org website devoted to the cause of changing the name of the Oceanside Wastewater Treatment Facility to the "George W. Bush Sewage Plant." The group intends to honor the President's eight years of incomparable public service through this grand gesture on the November ballot.
Says group Chairman, T. Wayne Pickering:
"We think that this president's accomplishments, from diplomacy to fiscal stewardship, are of such great magnitude that an ordinary tribute like renaming a street is simply not enough. Most presidential memorials and libraries are forgotten places, visited only by scholars. This memorial will be a perpetual tribute to President Bush, and will turn every San Franciscan's bathroom into a shrine to his presidency."
In addition to being amused by the uniquely San Franciscan irreverence of this idea, we're pleased by the use of "sewage plant" in place of the more euphemistic "wastewater treatment facility." We're all for plain spoken honesty-you know, like the kind our fine President campaigned on, twice.
We can only hope, being San Franciscans ourselves, that our next big earthquake happens on his guard so that he can blatantly ignore us and make sure that FEMA lets us flail around in our own feces and flames for a few days before help arrives.
