Mayor Newsom Stalker Runs Over Man and Sings A Few Bars of Brenda Lee

A man convicted of stalking San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom turned himself in to the offices of the Bay Area Reporter late last week, after again alledgedly attempting to run someone over with his car for the second time in 18 months. Then, the real fun began.
After leaving the scene of the accident, Han Shin was seen walking toward the offices of the B.A.R., a local GLBT paper. According to staff, Shin entered the offices carrying a recycling bins worth of paper and folders, before whimpering "I'm afraid of police." He was identified as Newsom's stalker and, after harassing the staff (he yelled "fucking fags"), he was asked to leave. Just in time, it seems, since it was time for the musical portion of the show.

As he stood outside the Vagabond Inn, which is next door to the B.A.R., he raised his hands in the air, shimmied, and sang part of the Brenda Lee classic "I'm Sorry." Shin also rambled, invoking the names of Madonna and Benjamin Franklin as an officer stood a few feet across from him.

Talk about the old song-and-dance! Later, Shin protested that he wasn't gay and that his stalking of Newsom (he was found in the governor's Pacific Heights mansion in February of 2007, and currently has a restraining order against him) TOTALLY wasn't his fault, but instead was the Mayor's.

"Why do you think Gavin Newsom is so attracted to me?" he told the B.A.R. "He knows I can put him into the White House. It was a political marriage; it had nothing to do with sex."

Why are there two photos (this one and the one in the B.A.R.) of him and the mayor? And why does he look normal, while the mayor has a glassy-eyed frozen expression in both? I admire Newsom from what little I know about him, but he did have that one weird sex scandal already. What is really going on here?

I think the bigger story is, indeed, why Mayor Newsom is so attracted to this individual. The Sword needs to call the Mayor's office for comment.
