It's hard for us to put into words why we're so fond of artist-slash-porn auteur Phil ST John.  The bleach blond, always cigar-chomping, usually somehow furry director is the loudest dressed person at every GayVN awards (no easy task if you've ever been to one). The only thing louder than his outfits might be his movies. Three must-see entries from his canon stand out,  all day-glo odes to urban youth culture: Skateboard Sliders, starring pre-incarcerated, pre-bareback Tommy Saxx, Taggers (link NSFW--and it comes with its own gangsta-style rap theme song!) and Getting It At The Rave (NSFW)-his beyond-psychedelic star vehicle for Billy Brant. We don't know what Phil's been taking, but we've never been to something that fucked up. Seriously.

An American Film Institute Fellow and frequent contributor to the WOW Report, ST John recently (finally) launched his own blog (NSFW, natch) where he chronicles his adventures in body painting, getting molested at LAX and hopefully much, much more.

We compiled the following images as a testament-a retrospective, if you will-on ST John's ever evolving style.

Phil's always been a ladykiller, and by ladies we mean these two fresh-from-the-shower Wilmas. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but in 1998's South Beach Heat, the gorgeous ST John seems ready to smoke a bone.

If this isn't Hollywood magic, we don't know what is. ST John (center, in white) colors us bad by making sex on set into a Technicolor dreamcoat.

Speaking of coats of many colors, ST John has stitched together something special. In his latest incarnation, director-producer- cinematographer-auteur ST John takes a break from his furry hat persona, and tries something a little more, uh, Lynchian. Could Blew Velvet be his next hit?
