Is the Jarec Wentworth Trial Going to Be All About Rich vs. Poor?

Speaking of Sean Cody… It seems clear from the texts that were released as part of the federal indictment against porn star Jarec Wentworth, a.k.a. Teofil Brank, that he is likely guilty of trying to cajole, shall we say, more than a few dollars from wealthy gay businessman Donald Burns. But will the jurors’ sympathy be swayed by the idea that Jarec was just a poor but very attractive young man trying to make a buck, and Burns was a rich john who turned petty over a $2000 referral fee?

What came out in the first day of the trial on Tuesday, as Xbiz reports, is that Burns is worth $140 million and that the relationship between Burns and Wentworth “soured” all because one of the Sean Cody models that Wentworth had promised would go have sex with Burns failed to show up, and Wentworth refused to return the referral fee.

As Str8UpGayPorn reports from the courtroom, those referral fees were about $2000 apiece, on top of which Burns would pay the models $1500 to $2500 apiece for their meetings/overnights with him, sometimes engaging multiple models at a time for group sex. Why didn’t he just use Rentboy? Maybe he did, but clearly he had a taste for the harder-to-find (and not typically hooker-ish) fruit.

Maybe part of the problem is that Jarec started getting jealous that this very rich man’s taste for porn stars was not netting him as much money as it was some other hot models whom he procured — Burns reportedly spent as much as $200,000 just on “meetings” with Sean Cody’s Ashton alone.

But if all of this went down because Burns, after a couple of years, was being an asshole over $2,000, a lot of us would say yeah, he deserved to be blackmailed a little bit. He could afford it. He apparently also bragged about having his own “ship” built in Vancouver during his testimony.

Oh, but of course, no one deserves to be blackmailed, and my whole take on this case has been that it’s just not all that dramatic or intriguing unless you’re still titillated or scandalized by the idea that porn stars have sex for money outside porn. Like, why would you spend a half million dollars (and an Audi) trying to keep private the fact that you paid for sex? Would Burns’ life or income really change in any way if some porn star went on Twitter and exposed him as a horny old man? He wasn’t in the closet!

And, obviously, even though he tried to keep his name out of the initial federal documents, Burns ultimately set aside his shame and is testifying publicly to the fact that he hired whores, enjoyed having sex with them, and did so all because he was trying to get over a breakup. Fuck, if I had $140 million, I would definitely be trying to get a few of those Sean Cody models to come to my hotel room too.

Burns was cross-examined by the defense today (Wednesday), got all teary, and admitted to a lot of salacious shit, as Str8UpGayporn reports. I’m just curious to see if the defense can paint a picture of Jarec Wentworth not as an evil hooker/pimp, but as a young guy who figured out that he could make hundreds of thousands of dollars off his looks just by having sex with old men, and finding more models for said old man to have sex with.

Update: And, yes, testimony from Justin Matthews a.k.a. Sean Cody’s Taylor, who had a similar relationship to Donald Burns as Jarec did, only proves that Burns was willing to pay a lot of boys for a lot of “friendship.” Also, Justin/Taylor admits under oath that he tried to blackmail Burns for $150,000 too, after hearing about what Jarec was doing.

God this is all so fucking sad.

  1. I don’t see nothing wrong here besides the Blackmail. If the old guy wants to pay for it that’s his prerogative. Why does it matter that he used Sean Cody instead of Rentboy? Like the guys on Rentboy are so noble…they would never try to scam a multi-millionaire Lol

  2. It’s not about ‘rich vs. poor’. Yes, Burns is rich, but Teofil Brank is a predator. Good he’s going to off the street for several years.

  3. All I got from this is that Brank is a lousy (business man) pimp and that Burns would have saved himself some dough and a lot of stress if he just used rentboy or any other gay escorting service; I know there must be some high profile gay escorting site for 6 figured men.

I guess he just really likes financially ambitious shady straight guys, who have no problem taking his money. Why can’t these queens wing themselves off straight boys?

  4. Is it sad that as an Econ major in college, I see this mostly as another example of how the “little man” (SC subscribers) are getting screwed more than ever in modern times?

All most of us reading this blog wish for in our porn, is a fair shot at seeing the hottest guys available having sex; what do we get? Some of our favorites–Ashton, Willis, etc.–pillaged and basically owned by the 1% leaving the rest of us with the crumbs of watching Curtis and Pete in a scene together 10 years more haggard from when they began.

    Sad….off to my 9 to 5.

  5. Maybe, but another issue could be that Brank was pissed when he realized that he was being thrown away and was disposable. Today Brank got what he wanted as far as the testimony goes, with the humiliating details that Burns had to reveal and the fact that a few of the models that Brank was thrown away for, were outed and exposed as being prostitutes. For anyone, finding out you are easily replaceable is a hard pill to swallow. Also, I get that if Burns hadn’t gone to the FBI, the demands would have continued.

One thing that has been thrown around today is the fact that Burns was poaching models from Sean Cody to the point where models were cancelling right before shoots because Burns offered them $$, which was the reason why a number of them didn’t last long there. Maybe it’s far fetched, but once that starts to happen (and looking at how many didn’t come back or remain there that long I don’t think it’s that out of the relm of possibility)and you are competing with rich men for your talent, the business model starts to crater, along with declining revenue from piracy and spending a fortune to fight it, it may have not been worth it anymore to keep the company.

Brank has possibly forever ruined the reputation that Burns spent a lifetime building. Perhaps this will also bite Burns in the bank account as well, even if it’s just a nibble. The “great deal” that Burns got on that razor house probably won’t be a great deal when he unloads it and takes a loss for it. That house is the equivalent of Dick Clark’s Flintstone house in Malibu and the Bob Hope estate in Palm Springs both of which have/had to drop the price significantly, and the the case of Hope the home still hasn’t sold.

    1. “Brank has possibly forever ruined the reputation that Burns spent a lifetime building.”

If Burns was so concerned with his reputation he shouldn’t have been taking his kept boy porn star(Mackinzie Amadon/aka sean cody’s ashton) to high profile events, he also shouldn’t have tried to get porn filmed in his house.
