Queerty: No More Exploitative Reality shows, Please

Queerty is simply horrified that MTV has chosen to produce a reality show depicting gay chubby chasers:

Not that we have anything against Justin and Josh—if big girls are your thing, more power to you. But we’re pretty sure this episode is gonna come with a side order of exploitation. Especially since we read the casting notice: “If you appear to be between the ages of 16 and 28, and you love ‘em round and delectably plump, write us. Tell us about your passion for the plus-size.” Stayed tuned this summer, when True Life airs the episodes “I Want to be Straight” and “I’m No Longer Gay.” We wish we were kidding.

Every single type of human on the face of the Earth has been exploited and turned into an awful caricature by some low-level, mildly retarded person working for a cable network, so just because it’s the fat gays’ turn now, we’re supposed to be offended?

If anything, Queerty should be happy that just like brides, midgets, teens, designers, addicts, hoarders, chefs, sluts, whores, drunk whores, drunk douche bags, and drunk housewives, the gays are now being exploited…equally.

We don’t know why we expected something sensitive from the network that’s brought us Teen Great-Grandmas, I’m Not Here to Make Friends and I Used to be Fat.

Oh! Queerty, the new proponent of sensitive, non-exploitative television. If Queerty was so concerned with protecting gay people from being exploited, would they be running weekly recaps celebrating and exploiting the exploitative horror show antics of Logo’s A-List? Is this show (which Queerty hasn’t even seen, but don’t let that stop them) somehow different because the exploited people are fat gays and not imaginary socialite gays? They’re fat, not stupid. You are stupid, Queerty, and you underestimate fat people for assuming that they don’t know what it means to be exploited on a reality show.

A “side order of exploitation”? Are you kidding me? Who isn’t being exploited? Who doesn’t want to be exploited?

  1. Oh, and PS – Hey Queerty, the fat gay guys who signed on to make the show and accept the paychecks they get from it, are perfectly fine with being exploited, or else they wouldn’t have done it, so what the fuck does it matter to YOU?

Queerty sucks ass. And don’t pardon my French.

  2. At least they’re upfront about what they’re making. I read the queerty piece twice and still don’t get what they’re even saying.
