It’s come to our attention that T.R. Knight’s barely legal paramour, Mark Cornelsen, is the one who talked him into copying Katherine Heigl, jumping ship from his hit series and aiming for a big-screen career — the success of which is extremely unlikely given that he’s only kind of cute and not exactly commanding A-list attention.

While it’s no secret that the openly gay 36-year-old actor has been unhappy with his lack of screen time, insiders say his boyfriend of 1 1/2 years, college student Mark Cornelsen, has been trying to convince T.R. that he’s destined to be a movie star.

And if there’s any lesson to be learned from the career trajectory of our boy Neil Patrick Harris, it’s that being an out TV star playing a straight character is one thing — but being an out movie star playing straight characters and raking in the big bucks is, sadly but probably, not in the stars while you’re still in your prime, and definitely not in the stars unless you look like Brad Pitt or Hugh Jackman.  Hell, even Will Smith is staying in the closet until his prime is over.  Keep your lucrative day job.
