Voting No On Prop 60 May Be The Only Thing The GOP & Dems Agree On

Proposition 60 is a misleading, dangerous initiative that will result in adult performers being targeted and harassed by a digital mob.” ~Los Angeles County Democratic Party

Last week the LA Times published that the majority of Californians support Prop 60. Like so many things in the current political climate, most Californian’s don’t understand that Prop 60 will not curb the spread of HIV.

Let me be clear: Prop 60 is as much about curtailing disease as North Carolina’s HB2 is about protecting women and children.

As we have covered here, Prop 60 is about much more than the future of bareback porn. It’s about much more than the likely “loss of several million dollars in state and local tax revenues each year if porn production leaves the state.”

As the Eric Paul Leue, the Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition so eloquently laid out last time, Prop 60 will be a lawsuit bonanza that endangers the lives of adult performers. That is not hyperbole. Nor is harassment a California value.

Many lawmakers, doctors, and performers have been unanimous in their opposition …

And today, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party has added their voice:

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Democratic Party the largest local Democratic Party in the United States, has officially opposed Proposition 60, a statewide ballot initiative that would allow any resident of California to sue adult performers who make films where a condom isn’t visible. The LACDP joins the California Democratic Party, the San Francisco Democratic Party and numerous other political parties and local clubs in opposing the controversial measure.

“This endorsement is an important victory for adult performers, and the No on 60 campaign,” says Eric Paul Leue, Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition. “Los Angeles County is the home for many in the adult performer community. Proposition 60 is a misleading, dangerous initiative that will result in adult performers being targeted and harassed by a digital mob. This is why thousands of adult performers and advocates, and even some of those who supported Los Angeles’ Measure B, have come out against Proposition 60.”

In addition to the California Democratic Party and LACDP, Proposition 60 has been opposed by the California Republican Party, the California Libertarian Party, the San Francisco Young Democrats, the Los Angeles Young Democrats, the Harvey Milk Democratic Club, Equality California, San Francisco Medical Society, AIDS Project LA, SF AIDS Foundation, the LA LGBT Center, the Transgender Law Center, and the performer group APAC (Adult Performer Advocacy Committee), among many others.

Over the past month, five of California’s largest papers have also asked voters to Vote No on 60.

  1. Prop 60 is a load of BS, i know guys who are all innocent non cum-pigs , don’t enjoy porn , yet they are totally uneducated when it comes to bareback unsafe practices.

So No Prop 60 will not stop individuals from doing bareback sex, this is a stupid and useless bill, that will only cost jobs.

  2. are you fucking serious? Might as well outlaw porn altogether like they did to alcohol in the 1920s since that worked out so well.
