Watch This Year’s Awesome, Choreographed Folsom Street Fair Promo

People can say what they want about San Francisco losing its edge. Folsom Street Fair is doing its best to keep the place weird, and the brilliant work of filmmaker Aron Kantor will make you a believer.

Kantor, who also goes by Dirty Glitter, made this other great promo for the Magnitude party which arrived last week.

But this is by far the better work, with the help of some very Fosse-inspired choreography by Danny Dolan, and featuring Broadway performer Colin Cunliffe, SF drag queens Rahni NothingMore, Fauxnique, Grace Towers, Peggy L’Eggs, and famed party king Mario Diaz.

Kantor writes of the short film…

The film Folsom Street is a celebration of this community and the positive impact the kink and leather subcultures can have. In the face of cultural-whitewashing and rampant gentrification, celebrating the seedier side of San Francisco and the impact leather and kink communities have is of the upmost importance to maintaining a balance in the face of the complete and total gentrification of San Francisco.

Folsom Street Fair is on Sunday, September 27.

  1. I think the LGBT people of San Francisco should be ashamed of that fair. From the many pictures that I have seen over the years, the things they do should be done in private, if at all. Those adults should stop acting like teenagers who are trying to shock real adults.

  2. Makes me so proud San Francisco still has the talent to make this FANTASTIC vid, in the wake of all the tacky tech changes. Queer lives on in The City by the Bay. SEXY.
