The coronavirus is making a lot of events move their dates around, but the Grabbys remain unbothered. The award nominations just dropped and they’re reassuring fans that the award show is happening one way or another.
“Please note due to the Coronavirus we have decided to hold off details about this years show… We will have a show, it’s just a matter of what size venue we will be holding it in. We are hoping to have an update by Wednesday April 1st,” read the award show’s website. “Please check back with us as we will let you know as soon as we can.”
The 2020 ceremony is supposed to take place Saturday, May 23rd and they’re pretty determined to keep that date. Like the statement said, it seems they’re just trying to figure out how big they should make the actual event. The 2019 ceremony was held in Chicago’s Metro Theater and that venue has a capacity of 1,100 attendees, so it’s unlikely an event that large will be held when we’re supposed to be practicing social distancing. But who knows? COVID-19 could be contained by May and we’re back to our regular lives. On the other hand, things could be much worse and this show gets turned into a Twitch stream. I guess we’ll find out!
