Adult Industry Veteran and Friend John Tegan Has Passed Away

The Sword sadly reports that interim Sword Editor and longtime adult industry professional John Tegan passed away of natural causes yesterday in his Los Angeles home. His husband Cooper Neumann confirmed earlier today in a post on Twitter.

John directed for Cocksure Men, Jet Set and Jake Cruise. Among his many famous titles was the Jet Set hit Finding Levi’s Johnson and Brady Loves Kevin for Cocksure Men.

Most recently John kept his finger on the pulse of everything happening in the gay adult industry as the editor of the popular blog Gay Daily Hot. When our own Harlan Yaffe became ill, he reached out to John who graciously stepped in and served as Interim Contributing Editor for TheSword.com.

John’s good friend Jasun Mark, who directed with John at Jake Cruise and Cocksure Men, remembers “He was a very fun guy and was really good at what he did. He had a way with performers that brought out their real personalities on video. I brought John in to work on Gay Daily Hot, and that is when the magic really started to happen. I’ll miss reading John’s Gay Daily Hot, he was a great blogger.”

We send our condolences to John’s family, friends, loved ones and fans. He will be greatly missed.

John will be sorely missed. His passion for the industry was matched only by his standards of excellence and professionalism. When I was just starting out, he believed in me and helped get me booked for one of the most important scenes of my career. For that I will always be grateful.. My heart goes out to his husband, family and loved ones.

  2. Sadden to hear of John’s passing. When I left Catalina Video to pursue work as a freelance photographer John kept me working for many years. We shot a series of successful fitness calendars, he brought on many jobs with him as a still photographer at Jet Set Men, Cocksure men, Jake Cruise to name a few. I will always be grateful to John for believing in my skills as a photographer and helping me with my career that is going on 22 years in the industry. RIP my friend :( gone but not forgotten

  3. Very sad to hear of this news today. John (and Jasun) really set the bar for not just highlighting our industry, but humanizing it and keeping the discourse funny and positive. He was there to feature many of my early scenes and it’s my hope that his work and sense of love and respect of our quirky biz is honored by others in their ongoing industry work. God bless

  4. This is very sad news. John was always such an advocate and such an amazing member of the adult industry. He had no bias and posted about everybody. You will be missed sweet friend

  5. Goodbye, my friend. Thanks so much for all the friendship, the encouragement and mentorship. All the fun we had and all that great porn we made.
