AIDS Skeptic Dies of AIDS

From her home in the valley next to Los Angeles, 52-year-old Maggiore created a prominent non-profit called Alive & Well AIDS Alternatives, which encourages HIV-positive people to “consider a destiny that differs from the one we are taught to expect.”

She also wrote a book: What if Everything You Thought You Knew About AIDS Was Wrong?

Maggiore and her husband had a daughter several years ago who died in her childhood from AIDS-related pneumonia. According to the LA Times, The D.A. chose not to prosecute Maggiore, who “had said that she did not take antiviral medications during her pregnancy and that she did not have her daughter tested for the virus after birth.”

In one section of called “If you’ve tested positive for HIV,” the official website for Alive & Well advises alternative therapies that include Ayurvedic medicine, which revolves around something called a dosha, and Imagery, which is premised on “the concept that imagination has the ability to cure illness.”

As of today, the website has not broadcast any reaction to Maggiore’s death.

  1. I think that is quite ignorant for anyone to say that a fundamental question of “How exactly does HIV causes AIDS?” has not been answered. As the fact shows that acquiring HIV eventually leads the AIDS, which if you did any simple research stands for “Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.” The matter of the fact is AIDS is developed due HIV compromising the immune system.

I absolutely respect anyone who tries various type of coping mechanism or treatment style, as that is their body and they have full control over it. However, I believe it is simple ignorance and paranoia as such to state that no answer has been produce to the cause of AIDS. Please do your research as it is condescending and rude to individuals like me who spend numerous hours in the lab to conduct these research to help give answers like, “How exactly does HIV causes AIDS?” that will help lead to better treatment and prevention of the virus itself and the the syndrome that leads afterwards.

  2. Paul, the tone of your LA Times regurgitation is condescending and rude, clearly a not-researched, knee-jerk, superficial wash of a very complex person and situation. I personally knew Maggiore and supported her work, as she was asking fundamental questions about AIDS that as of today have yet to be answered, all derivatives of the one particular question: “HOW exactly does HIV cause AIDS?” The answer has yet to be produced. Unfortunately, her death and that of her daughter could probably have been avoided had they taken ARVs, but the legacy of her skepticism, demand for scientific integrity, and quest for truth certainly lives on.
