Barbie’s Creator Was a Diseased Sex Fiend

The New York Post today served up a sneak peek of Toy Monster: The Big, Bad World of Mattel, which comes out next month. The new book profiles the Yale-educated Barbie creator Jack Ryan, allegedly a “full-blown seventies-style swinger” with “a manic need for sexual gratification.”

The book claims that Ryan once contracted gonorrhea from his favorite hooker and quotes a friend who says that “when Jack talked about creating Barbie…it was like listening to somebody talk about a sexual episode, almost like listening to a sexual pervert.”

It’s not surprising that Barbie’s creator was a perv considering that if she were human, she would stand 7’2″ with a 23-inch waist and boobs the size of two childrens’ heads each.

The original Barbie (pictured) hit toy store shelves in March of 1959. A mint-condition boxed Barbie from that year fetched $3552.50 on eBay in 2004.

As for Ken, he was named after Ken Handler, one the Mattel founders’ three children. Ken was married with children, but he was gay, and in 1994 he died of AIDS in Greenwich Village. Ken’s plastic doppelganger, an “anatomically incorrect boy doll” with “no hint of genitalia,” tortured him throughout his life, the book says.
