News went out over the weekend that the woman formerly known as Bruce Jenner would be making her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair’s July issue, in a photo by Annie Lebowitz, just in time to promote Jenner’s upcoming docu-series on E!. Now today VF unveils the cover and the whole feature for digital subscribers. And yes, her name is now Caitlyn.
It is funny a) that Bruce went with the name of a 6-year-old girl on Toddlers & Tiaras instead of something a little more mature, like Maude or something; and b) that he didn’t spell Caitlyn with a K, marking a firm departure from the Kardashian clan.
Nevertheless, daughters Kendall and Khloe have helped spread the love on social media, as you can see below. Kris Jenner, meanwhile, has stayed silent so far, just pimping Keeping Up With The Kardashians and a Glamour cover with Kim on it in the last few hours on Twitter.
The cover story is by Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger, who spent “hundreds of hours with the man the world knew as Bruce Jenner over a period of three months, and then countless hours with Caitlyn, also attending the photo shoot with Leibovitz at Jenner’s Malibu home.”
Bissinger delves deeper than Diane Sawyer did into the family history surrounding Jenner’s earlier marriages and how his children perceived his first attempt to transition, back in the mid-1980s. In one passage, he reports that Brody Jenner, who may be the single sexiest of the Jenner offspring, now 31 (who’ll get his own E! show this summer called Sex With Brody), was about 4 years old and said to his mother, “Mommy, we saw Daddy get out of the shower and he’s got boobs.”
And, below, is Jenner’s brief making-of video from the shoot, as well as an outtake shot from the shoot, with a red dress.
