Romania where 85% of the country belongs to the Romanian Orthodox Church & one of the only places in the EU to deny any recognition of marriage equality. But once their scandal on tape, the deny game is over.
The Bishop of Husi, 51-year-old Corneliu Barladeanu, “for the peace and good of the church,” stepped down on Friday. Despite being caught on video with a 17-year-old boy, he maintains his innocence, insisting the tape was “altered”.
The church also blamed “an aggressive campaign of some media outlets aimed against the Romanian Orthodox Church, often with the complicity of some errant priests.”
The church, however, insisted the bishop would have been similarly chastised if the alleged sexual misdemeanors involved a woman. The statement was issued at the end of a two-day Holy Synod where a sex scandal was discussed for the first time in its 92-year history.
Adds the Washington Post, church critic and political analyst Stelian Tanase said. “I think that the Synod should have come out with a strong decision to condemn such shameful practices for servants of the church… Instead, they preferred a cover-up.”
I wonder how lucrative the job market is for should be defrocked pervy priests.
Perhaps he will find a new gig in next year’s “Priests I’d Like To Fuck” calendar.
Or perhaps, he might might more kindred spirits with Pope Francis & his pals at the Vatican

Parts of BelAmi’s “Scandal in the Vatican 2: The Swiss Guard” were actually filmed in the Apostolic Palace and clealry, Bishop Barladeanu is looking for a change of scenery.
But after all, devout faith can cause any man fall to his knees. Let’s just hope in Bishop Barladeanu’s case, that doesn’t occur near a high school.
