On his way back from NYC pride last week, gay porn star Blake Mitchell made an unscheduled pit stop on his way home: helping to prevent a car accident from claiming the lives of a family.
Pornstars are people. Some people behave better than others. That includes porn stars.
Anytime I have to begin a story with, “this is news whether I like it or,” it means porn stars were behaving badly.
That is usually followed by calls to report on porn stars when they do good things, not just the salacious ones.
And a good story is what we have today, courtesy of GayPopBuzz.
As he tells in his video, Blake Mitchell was driving back from NYC Pride when he saw two semi-trucks about to hit each other. A swerve avoided a collision but took a van as a casualty. Inside that flipped van were a father and his two daughters.
Blake pulled over to the side of the road and with the help of some other good samaritans, we’re able to get the family out of the van which was leaking gas. One of the girls also suffered a broken leg.
Blake posted a video about the incident with the takeaway message, “See Something, Do Something.”
Though he did acknowledge the current political climate which has left many Americans angry and virtually all polarized, the greater takeaway is not just “see something, do something,” but a reminder of something very easy to forget these days, “humanity first.”
Tolls on the road but trolls on the super-highway. Blake’s fans have deemed him a hero. Others have cheered his example of people helping people in a time when much energy is used bringing each other down.
And others have accused him of humble, or not so humble brag and capitalizing on the even to build his own brand. Frankly, with almost 150K twitter followers and 175K on Instagram alone, I’d say his brand is just fine. I would add one more thing, good for you Blake, humanity first is a reminder we all need about now.
