If you’ve ever wanted to know a little more about FOSTA-SESTA and educate yourself a little on legal troubles facing independent adult stars today, then listen up! San Francisco-based attorney Stephan Ferris, also known as former NakedSword star and adult performer Blue Bailey, is hosting a class on Wednesday, August 4 that’s aiming to educate everyone on the various legal challenges created by FOSTA-SESTA that queer adult content creators are facing.
The class, entitled “YLDG – F*ck Your Community Standards! FOSTA-SESTA, Social Media & Adult Content Online”, is intended for anyone that is a content creator, moderates adult content online, or cares about “freedom of sexual expression online” that wants to learn more about the challenges associated with FOSTA-SESTA (Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act and Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act), a pair of laws intended to halt sex trafficking that has had a mass negative effect in online sex work.

“FOSTA-SESTA eliminates online queer platforms and censors queer expression by equating consensual commercial sex with sex trafficking,” Stephan told us when asked about the upcoming online event. “It is the reason why we no longer have Craigslist personals and why community standards are becoming more and more prohibitive. As a content creator, I understand the hardships that arise from these issues, and as an attorney, I am uniquely positioned to help educate and bring awareness of these issues to the sex worker, kink, and queer communities.”
For the first portion of the online event, Stephan will be joined by Gil Sperlein, a San Francisco-based attorney who has represented adult entertainment clients for over 20 years and former general counsel for Titan Media, to “explore the evolution of censorship in the queer adult entertainment arena.” The pair will dive into the impact of FOSTA-SESTA on social media community guidelines, increased compliance standards for content creators, and emerging legal issues in this sphere.
“I think one of the biggest issues we will tackle is how FOSTA-SESTA functions and how it impacts online queer communities,” Stephan said. “A lot of people are familiar with the term FOSTA-SESTA but don’t know what it means. Additionally, it’s important to understand what burdens and duties are placed on the content creator, despite what a platform’s Terms of Use may provide.”
The second part of the event will include a conversation with Dark Alley performer and self-described “fist pig” HungerFF. This talk will be “a practical discussion of creating and navigating adult content creation and distribution online.”
