Brent Corrigan A.K.A. Sean Paul Lockhart Is Now Sean Paul Lockhart A.K.A. Brent Corrigan

Bad news for gay adult blogs that love the traffic that comes from having stories about Brent Corrigan or even just the words “Brent Corrigan” on their blogs: Brent Corrigan is now going by his legal name, Sean Paul Lockhart. His porn name (Brent Corrigan) is now an “a.k.a.,” as evidenced by his own blog post this morning, in which Sean Paul Lockhart promotes his mainstream film work and an article about it on Arianna Huffington’s blog (she doesn’t have a porn name), The Huffington Post!

Sean Lockhart aka Brent Corrigan in New Movie!

The latest Brent Corrigan headline news officially broken including details about my upcoming mainstream release: Chillarama “I was a Teenage Werebear”. You can read the article at THE HUFFINGTON POST as well as listen to the original recorded interview. The article is great, and many thanks to Lee Stranahan – however, if you’re looking for real information and you want to get a sense of the process of everything from being cast to shooting the film, you should also take some time to LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW. It’s far more generous & informative. Your comments of encouragement there at The Huffington Post are always greatly appreciated. But please, don’t clog up The Huffington Post feed with dirty, sexualized rhetoric. Let’s take this chance to prove there’s more to gay men than Just The Sex.

Please, don’t clog up the feed. Well, fine. Brent Corrigan fans are ferociously obedient (as well as oblivious to sarcasm), so I’m sure they’ll leave out references to his asshole in The Huffington Post comments.

Now, don’t get confused and frustrated on me. You will notice the film’s producers and director have chosen to bill me under my legal name Sean Paul Lockhart. As far as mainstream is concerned, this decision has been long time coming. It wasn’t a question of whether to do it, but when to do it. While I am not attempting to hide my adult career from anyone, my mainstream work does require a fair amount of distance from it. Can it be achieved? Only time will tell. Please understand that I am not turning my back on my roots or doing any of this to forget about all of you here, whom I love and care for very much.

[…]

I understand the daunting task of attempting a true gay porn to mainstream crossover. I realize it’s never truly been done on a widespread scale. Am I scared? Sure, I’m a bit nervous about the prospect and how truly possible any of it is. But fear has never held me back. I’m a fighter. Don’t we know that about me yet? I push back when The Universe says “No”. That coupled with my talent & intellect (and maybe a decent looking “mug”) is what is going to take me there. Perseverance is priceless. Will you stand by me knowing that one of your very own is working to break barriers and boundaries set in place for tens of years?  You stand by me and I will never forget you.

How much of your past can you really control? And should you even bother? It isn’t the Brent Corrigan fans that Sean Paul Lockhart should be ordering around worrying about, but rather the anti-gay porn mainstream Hollywood executives who call the shots, and who are ironically, no doubt, overwhelmingly pro-gay porn–and pro-Brent Corrigan gay porn–in their private lives. It’s all not fair, of course. Closeted gay men with little to no talent get to be action movie stars while an openly gay man who has opened up his entire life (and his mouth, butt, etc.) has to act like that life never existed. Or, at least, has to create “a fair amount of distance” from that life, whatever that means. It’s 2010. A Google image search of “Sean Paul Lockhart” would tell anyone all they ever needed to know. The horse is already out of the barn.

The fact is, Brent/Sean is talented outside of porn. If you had no idea who he was and saw him in this clip from an otherwise dumb movie, you’d probably remember him, and you’d probably enjoy seeing him again. It’d be nice if this talent and charisma (I’ve interviewed him twice and he’s teeming with it) could speak for itself (and to some producers and directors it already has, which is great), but why not also use the fact that you’re arguably the most popular gay porn star in the world to its full and explicit advantage? Because no amount of restrained commenting on The Huffington Post is going to obscure–or create distance from–the past.

  1. I always enjoyed watching him in both porn and reg movies. I subscribe to his youtube channel and find him very likeable. He’someone who if I even nevr knew of his porn carreer that if I met him out on a sat night I would certainly ask him to dance. Hopefully I continue to see more of him.

  2. Robert-

Rob Lowe was an established actor when his scandal broke, not to mention the fact that the underage girl in question met Lowe at a bar where she presented a fake ID stating that she was of age. That and the Snow White debacle at the 1989 Oscars torpedoed his career as a leading man and it took years for him to get his career back on track. Stallone’s movie came out after he was famous and it was considered a soft core movie. The theme here being that he was already established as a mainstream performer before the film was “uncovered”. Notice that almost none of the current “sex tape stars” are people that are considered A list actors or are known for their incredible talents. You aren’t going to see Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian competing for roles with Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman, or Ellen Page. These are the girls that will be competing for Oscars for the next 10 years, the rest will fade into obscurity (Hilton is already starting to).

I wish Sean all the success in the world, but I don’t think Zach or some of the other posters are being negative or bitchy when they say the odds are stacked against him. Even if he never did gay porn the odds would be stacked against him or anyone wanting a career in the entertainment indsutry just because the number of people who actually make it is miniscule. Jenna Jameson has said that porn will follow you for the rest of your life and for the most part people will never look at you as a person but as a porn star. It might not be fair, but it’s just the way it is now.

  3. LOL at comparisons of Brent Corrigan to Martha Stewart. Prior to her trouble for inside trading, Martha Stewart took her company public on the stock exchange and went from multi-millionaire to BILLIONAIRE in 24 hours. Then she did a stupid stock dump, was investigated, and went to prison for giving a false statement to the FBI. Prior to being “Martha Stewart”, Martha was a stock-trader, so the”I didn’t know” didn’t fly with the courts. Wonder if she would “be back on TV, her business thriving” if she had filmed “Daddy, Make Me Scream And My Asshole Gape!” in the interim instead of a jail term for financial stuff (the public knows she’s rich as hell and we need to know how to set a table and plan a party, Martha style!)

Anyway, I’m loving the posts from his very, very optimistic supporters.

  4. Zach, masked but easily discernible in your inane diatribe on Sean’s future, is an angry jealous screaming queen, the prophet of doom and ill will. The only aspect you get right about Sean is, “It’d be nice if this talent and charisma (I’ve interviewed him twice and he’s teeming with it) could speak for itself”. Yes, Sean has charisma and he can act which is exactly why he is getting work in the film industry. The smart producers are booking him first for his talent, his experience working on sets for many years and his commitment to seeing every project through to completion. Those are the hallmarks of a good actor. I subscribe to the belief that anyone in America can improve themselves and rise above any perception of their past. Sean Lockhart will do exactly that because he has the drive, will and perseverance to make this happen. His inner circle of supporters cheer him on and do everything in their power to assure his success. And there are many.

Rob Lowe was caught by his own video camera having sex with an underage girl. The shadowy frames of him drilling this girl were on the news for months. Look at Rob’s career today. Sylvester Stallone starred in a low budget porn film titled ‘Italian Stallion” for which he was paid $200 in 1970. That film just sold for $400,000 to an investor. Stallone appeared in 6 low budget films before he came out swinging in his epic film ‘Rocky’ in 1976. Martha Stewart served time in jail and she is back on TV, her business thriving because of her indomitable spirit. She recently bought out Emeril Lagasse for $50 million.

Everybody loves a winner, especially someone who has the inner strength to ignore their detractors and improve themselves. Sean is all that and more. People like you Zach will soon be drowned out by the chorus of support that is already cheering Sean to greatness.

  5. Fair enough Estelle, I was also a rabid fan of Marilyn Chambers. and believed she could break through. It never happened.

Your observations are dead on and a good warning. This will take a lot of work and time. The talent is either there or it is not. As Brent told me last Saturday, “I have to pay my dues.” meaning continue establishing a solid respectable work history. I have been confident for years on this subject but yes, Sean must be extraordinarily good to overcome the preconceptions.

Don’t discount his fan base too quickly though. He has a lot of Korean, Chinese, Australian, New Zealand, German, British and others both male and female. Korean girls are maybe the most rabid and funny to read. :) Gotta love their innocent approach.

Seriously, maybe he should do a soap opera or sit-com for a few years to snag the American middle class.

    Thanks

  6. Albert, an established fan base doesn’t mean people are going to go out and watch you in something other then porn. In terms of porn, I didn’t see Sasha Grey’s porn fans go see her mainstream movie because she was in it. Ditto Jenna Jameson whose horror movie was a huge bomb.

“An intelligent studio will realize he brings a huge worldwide audiance. Sean Paul Lockhart will sell. ”

So does Madonna but for the most part her films have been huge failures. David Caruso and Farrah Fawcett’s huge TV stardom didn’t transfer to a film career. Res, Mike, and Alex pretty much sum up what faces him.

  7. One of the differences between Sean/Brent and some beautiful and talanted waiter in Los Angeles is an established fan base. If Brent snagged a role playing Dr. Boringashit on General Hospital, I would start watching daytime soap opera. So would a lot of people. When Sean is on the screen, he stands out. Love him or hate him, he draws a crowd.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with Brent last week for his four day appearance in Houston. He shows up on time, clean, sober and looking as good as he can manage with low fat diets before public shows. His transition to non-porn work has been a long process that some of us, Jody Wheeler, DeWayne, I and others have supported. Sean is aware of the uphill battle ahead of him but is in this for the long haul. Predicting a year or two out is thinking shallow.

Sean is an actor with a unique history. That does not change his physical beauty or talent. An intelligent studio will realize he brings a huge worldwide audiance. Sean Paul Lockhart will sell.

  8. Best of luck to the guy. Hopefully he realizes that he’s up against nearly insurmountable odds in getting cast. Mainstream producers will immediately pass on him because of his porn past. While some of that might be homophobia, the real issue is economics. TV shows and movies cost hundreds of thousands to millions to produce. When a studio is spending that kind of money, they have to protect their investment. Knowing the porn connection could potentially result in boycotts from any number of religious groups means casting a former porn “star” is unlikely.

  9. It’s too bad that our society looks upon porn as something “evil” and that creates a desire for people to hide their past. I wish Mr. Lockhart success.

  10. At age 24 it’s safe to say there are hundreds (if not more) of current LA waiters and valets who have “acting” aspirations who are every bit as “cute” “magnetic” “charming” “sweet” etc etc and don’t have the baggage, and show up at every casting call. I was (an am) a big Travis Wade (who peaked about 10 years ago?) fan and remember reading on a message board discussing him a post from an anonymous what sounds like an assistant to the assistant of a casting agent for TV (like “Friends” at the time, not small potatoes) who sounded legit to me who hired him and let the cat out of the bag as to what he did. He said Travis really wanted to make the same mainstream leap, even with TV show walk throughs or background players at first, because “I won the Best Actor award” (for Falcon’s “No Way Out”) but the guy had to tell him : “Love you buddy, and you’re on my private “hire” list every time you’re in town, but that will just not happen.”

Recall Nick Snider, the onetime Prada model who was ranked by GQ or something at his peak as the third most popular male model in the world. Then he had that bit of trouble with the law and was outed. This was just 9-10 months ago. I follow his Twitter and he doesn’t seem to be doing much of anything big these days, sad to say. Sounds like he doesn’t even live in NYC anymore and just parties. And that’s the fashion world, fer christssakes. “Sean Paul” will continue in low budget direct-to-DVD indy gay oriented films where the small audience couldn’t care less about his porn past, and then Zach Sire will be writing about his big cum-back when he’s older and paunchier.

  11. we all know how much i love brent, as evidence by the fact that i’d never have sex with him (spare the poor boy my evil vagina).

i wish he didn’t feel the need to put any kind of distance between his mainstream career and his adult one. but as zach pointed out, the porn-hating, homophobic (yet often not-so-secretly gay) higher-ups in hollywood make that difficult.

it makes sense to separate the two careers, in the sense that: “brent corrigan” is the gay porn mega-star persona he’s created, and sean lockhart is less a persona and more just…him doing what he do, so to speak.

zach is right, sean is an incredibly talented and charismatic person outside of porn. i’ve been lucky enough to see scenes from his upcoming movie, Judas Kiss, and his acting is fantastic. he’s a magnetic person and you can’t take your eyes off him on screen, with or without clothes on.

and speaking simply as a fan, having met him at a fundraiser for Judas Kiss in Seattle, i will say he’s charming, quick as a whip, and very sweet. i’ve never really seen anyone wrap people around their finger quite so easily as he did. he took the time to talk with everyone who came out that night to support the film (including going outside the bar to meet a minor who came for an autograph). not to mention he and the rest of the cast are absolutely hilarious after a few drinks (that part of the night is hazy…). he even made good on his promise to stop by the set the following night when my friend and i were extras, even though he wasn’t scheduled to film that day.

also, he complimented my breasts after grabbing them repeatedly (he kisses girls and knows how to charm them, too!).

i love him to bits. i always will. he’s got my loyalty and support in whatever he choses to do.

(i’d mention too that i have an autographed poster of him on my wall, but THAT would just make me sound like a crazed stalker-y fan).

  12. The mainstream industry has a hard time casting gay leads, but a gay lead that does gay porn? I want the world to be a lovely place, but how is that marketable?

    1. No, he needs three things to be successful.

The third being the absence of your simplistic and un-knowledgeable advice above.

  13. Zac Effron probably sat up straight and let out a “huh, man, uhm…. what?” at this news. A little competition for ya, Zackie.

  14. The only thing that Sean Lockhart needs to separate from his past – from his future acting career, is a change of his delivery of dialogue. If it remains as pretty and as desirable as his face and ass – he’s doomed.

It’s the pretty boy dialogue and delivery that’s killing him. He needs an edge away from his looks.

He really needs a good acting coach and if we as a community don’t have any of those – then we’re ALL doomed. LOL

    I’m available. :-)

  15. “Closeted gay men with little to no talent get to be action movie stars while an openly gay man who has opened up his entire life (and his mouth, butt, etc.) has to act like that life never existed.”

That’s probably one of the most brilliantly anal-i-zed observations and arguments that anyone from our community has ever made on our behalf when it comes to this topic.

Just another reason why Zach Sire should Co- host the Grabby’s! LOL!

  16. Good for him. If he wants a career in mainstream, he should go by his legal name, not his porn name. I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of his porn career, as he moves to bigger and better things?
