Brent Corrigan Has Something to Say For Himself

(Our guest GayVN correspondent The Unabashed Queer spoke to Brent Corrigan on the red carpet at the GayVN Awards last week about his underage controversy, his involvement in the Harlow Cuadra murder trial and his plans to conquer the world.)

He is known as the Zac Efron of the gay porn world with his shaggy hair-for-hair imitation of the teen icon.  Brent and his Porne Ultimatum co-star, Kaden Saylor (pictured below), stood out from the crowd walking along Market Street in the spring sun.  Upon closer investigation, each crease and crevice on Brent’s face had peach powder accumulating in it.

Brent loves an interview. Kaden, I’m guessing, does not.  From beneath his baseball cap comes a slow drawl that is either a product of growing up in Texas, or drugs, or both. (I overheard Brent explaining the glory of Xanax to Kaden during the run-through.) Whatever the case, Kaden works the straight-acting country bumpkin thing so well, it may even be real.

There is an innocence and naiveté amongst all of the young porn actors I met at the GayVN Awards with the exception of the youngest-appearing of them all — Brent Corrigan. A simple question I had asked several times yesterday opened up Pandora’s Box:  “What are you known for? What’s your specialty?” I was expecting an answer like double penetration while reciting Shakespeare, but what I got was a ready-for-trial defense of his role in the 2007 murder of Cobra Video owner, Bryan Kocis.

I guess I’m best known for my early work—it’s what put me on the map.  And “early” is the word du jour as he was one year too early to be performing legally in adult films.

I worked for a studio that was willing to produce me underage and there was a big debacle, very public.  The film was very on the down-low but then the public and the industry caught wind of it and I could no longer hide it for the producer.  There was a public feud and I was very outspoken. About a year after the civil suit petered out, the producer of the studio that allowed me to perform underage was murdered.  So I spent the next two years navigating a murder investigation just doing what I could, doing my part civically to bring the culprits to justice.  It was tough because everyone in the industry wanted to believe I had everything to do with it and I didn’t.  So part of it was about doing the right thing and part of it was about doing everything I could to make sure I cleared the air.

Evidently he is still consumed with his air-clearing mission.  You would have thought I was Nancy Grace interrogating him but this flood of information was completely unprovoked.  Perhaps being in the presence of his gay porn brothers at the run-through that afternoon brought up the need to defend himself.

Quite honestly, I don’t think people have really ever liked me very much to begin with because of the way I started underage.  It’s not a fact that I’m proud of.  I was seventeen.  That’s a reason and not an excuse.  When it (the murder) happened, a lot of studios, producers and even models, instead of really seeing it for what it was, all they could think about is what it would have been like if they were in that situation.  They all wanted to believe that I had orchestrated the whole thing as a 17-year-old boy.

Brent wants to go mainstream.  He says he has left the murder in the past and is pleased to have been a “flash” on the screen in Milk as well as having appeared in Another Gay Sequel.  Brent is a career man.  Or boy.  He takes his work seriously and wants to advance.  Maybe he is more honest than the other actors I met with who said these awards and their nominations mean very little to them because Brent admits he holds some of the awards very dear to him.

I think obviously anyone would like to get Best Performer of the Year.  The most important for me is Best Pro/Am film. I directed my first film, Summit, so to win something for it would make me feel a little bit more special. If I win Best Pro/Am I don’t know what I’d say but if I win Best Bottom I know what I won’t say. I’m not gonna thank my mama for giving me what I got but I’ll definitely thank some big-dicked tops.

At the time of this interview, Kaden Saylor had no idea what categories he was nominated for. [Ed. note: Kaden was nominated for 3 awards: Best Actor, Best Newcomer and Best Sex Scene – Duo.]

  1. Brent is the unique gay porn actor.
I’ve seen all his film, not just handsome bady on merit, he really PLAYS every scene. He is worthy all his nominations.
Sure, Best Performer of the Year and Best Pro/Am film will be next! Good luck, Brent!
As for Lucas… it was a desperate attempt to get rid of a competitor, not more.

And what for you compare Brent Corrigan with Zac Efron? Efron has not a half of Brent’s charm!

  2. Where is the full-length video of the GAYVN awards?

Didn’t THE SWORD say you were going to post the whole show on April 3?
