Cohen, who of course rose to fame with 2006’s Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, has been shooting such guerrilla material as his aggressively Euro-gay Bruno character for several months. Earlier this year he crashed the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada runway show in Milan, and also caused a security scare at the Wichita airport.
The Bruno film, which remains untitled and is scheduled for release next year, is likely to follow the same structure as the Borat movie, using a flimsy plot about the character’s travels in the U.S. to serve as an excuse for documentary-style footage of Bruno interacting with unsuspecting stupid Americans saying stupid things about gays. Then, Cohen will likely be sued by another hundred people who signed releases before realizing what they were signing.
The biggest mystery, naturally, is who is that humpy gay twink (above right) masquerading as a closeted Christian who Bruno’s hitting on?
