Comment Of The Day: “The truth about the way things REALLY are!”

Someone named “SomethingSoSweet” has something not so sweet to say about this year’s Grabbys nominations.

It writes:

I can honestly say, I don’t give a rat’s ass about this lame ass awards show or the people involved in it. If these guys need these tacky awards to validate who they are, I find it sad, I find it silly and it speaks volumes about the kind of people they truly are. And as someone else clearly pointed out, racism is alive and well in gay porn. These people don’t even want to recognize ethnic sites & studios. And the lack of ethnic men present is ridiculous. WTF is that about? Even though I enjoy gay porn, I have enough common sense to realize this industry and the people who take part in it, are crooked, selfish, racist, ignorant, close-minded, immature, and foolish.

I’m just telling it like it is, and I’m sorry if some people are too weak to handle the truth about the way things REALLY are! In no way, shape or form does a tacky ass porn awards show like this represent the glbt community in a positive way. If these people really wanted to set an example for the glbt community, they would go out and do something meaningful, something positive to give back to the world, that doesn’t involve their dick or them laying on their backs.

I may not have the popularity, looks or notoriety these guys have, and I certainly may not have the kind of money they might be getting, but unlike them, I don’t need porn to validate who I am. I don’t need porn to pay my bills and take good care of myself. I don’t need porn to pay for a vacation if I wanna go on one. I’m letting my BRAIN take care of that. I’m working hard, and doing something to help change the world. WTF are they doing? I’m not better than any one of these people, I’ll say that now. But when it comes to real-world common sense and having morals, despite not being perfect, a good majority of these men are seriously lacking depth and morals in their own lives. If that wasn’t the case, there wouldn’t be so much foolishness going on within the industry.

I know I might catch hell from somebody for saying what I said, but I don’t care, because I’d rather speak the truth than tell one lie on top of another like fools do.

LOL.

  1. Racism in the industry. I hear this all the time, I agree there is some. But it starts with YOU. The consumer.

I cast, try to cast, people of color when I can. But that’s because I have an agenda: I come from a blended family. Black, White, Asian.

Having said that, producers cast what sells. ‘This industry’ is really just a product and its ACTUALLY driven by your dollars. So if you want to see more people of color in our movies you need to buy those movies and support the industry you seek to change/criticize.

I never want to admit this but the truth is people in general are racist and xenophobic and we all need to change, myself included. Change starts with you. It will not come from bitching idle on a cheap porn blog. The consumer has the power— so do something about it.

Well Steve, I appreciate your feedback. I dunno that I’d call this a cheap blog though. Besides that, you are right, change begins with the consumer. If we don’t speak out on it, nothing will get done. Thanks for the comment. That was greatly appreciated!

  2. Just a lurker here, but best thread ever? Bravo, SomethingSoSweet, for trying to convince gay porn stars not to do gay porn on a website devoted to the gay porn industry. I like the cut of your dumb jib. Also, the porn industry is deeply, profoundly racist: true that.

    1. SomethingSoSweet

I was just trying to be honest in what I said. I think they can find something better, something more meaningful, in order to support themselves. Just because they might have nice bodies and good looks, doesn’t mean they automatically have to use them in order to survive. That’s what their brain is for. I know these guys can do better, but hey, it’s their life and their choices, and at the end of the day, there is a consequence for every choice they make. It’s not my life to live. It’s theirs. Thanks for the comment. Greatly appreciated!

  3. How is the racism in gay porn any different to the the racism in American TV, movies and music etc? Racism is so ingrained in American pop culture that it is easy to forget that it’s there.

    1. SomethingSoSweet

I never said it’s any different. It’s just unfortunate it exists, especially in an industry like this.

  4. Porn stars who conduct themselves with dignity and maintain some kind of decorum outside the pornographic sphere are pretty cool with me… as soon as I find one.
Until then, pretty good jerk-off material.

  5. Personally I understand the frustration and why he has such views of the industry. Also seems to have a hint of jealousy. But to pass assumptions on everybody in the industry is very close minded and immature. Every industry has its share of shitty people and its share of nice good people. There are plenty of people who are involved in the porn industry who are downright good human beings and who do good things in the world. Those aren’t usually the porn stars who get the media attention. They are always the ones you never hear gossip about or find in rehab etc. To call people in porn , racist is just plain old stupid. I could go on and on but frankly somebody who posts a comment such as this rant of his is no better a person. Frankly probably actually a nasty bitter human being themselves to spread such untruthful hatred.

    1. SomethingSoSweet

In brutal honesty, I am nothing close to nasty or bitter, so on that front you’re wrong. If you think racism doesn’t exist in this industry, think again. I’m not saying all those guys are like that, but to say it doesn’t exist, is a bit crazy.

  6. the same could ber said about the entire entertainment and modeling industry, however it is what it is, and they DO work, it’s just a different kind of job. No one can presume to know what a model or actor goes through in order to get where they are especially if they’ve never been part of the industry themselves.

    1. SomethingSoSweet

You’re right, I don’t know what they go through, however, sometimes, it doesn’t require you to be up close and personal to be able to figure out what might be going on. I don’t know how you could call SEX a job, but ok, haha. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.

I just want to personally say, as the writer of that comment, that I fully stand by the comment I wrote and posted 100%. With that said, I am not better than anyone else, nor have I ever thought I was. Like everyone else, I am human, therefore I’m imperfect. Much like everyone else here who posts on this blog, or any other one, I’m entitled to my own opinion. Regardless of whether or not someone agrees with anything I wrote, they should respect what I have to say.

Unlike Zach, the person who found my comment so interesting, he had to turn it into an article, and then post “LOL” underneath the caption, I don’t find anything about my comment funny. As for what I wrote, before someone even entertains the idea of calling me some ridiculous name, let me just say I am not a “hater”, and I am not “jealous” of any of the people associated with this industry. There’s nothing for me to hate or be jealous about. There’s a number of ugly things that go on in this industry, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I honestly don’t see a need to sit here and pretend like everything is fine and peachy, when it’s far from it.

As for the show, I respect there are people who like it, and no I can’t change their minds, but it doesn’t change my feelings about it. All of the men are grown, and they’re entitled to do as they please on their own terms. I can’t tell them what they should and shouldn’t do. They’re old enough to understand that every action they take has a consequence, good or bad. Of course, I’m not in charge of their lives. They are. With that said, I wouldn’t have said what I said, if I didn’t in some way, shape or form care about the lives and well-being of other people.

I don’t want any of these young men to feel like doing porn is the most acceptable way of living and supporting yourself, because it’s not. I don’t want them to feel like the awards at these shows, are accurate representations of who they are as a whole, because they’re not. I know every single one of these young men are more than capable of going out and making a better life for themselves, without using their bodies to do it. God gave them brains, so why not use that to make it in life???

Nonetheless, I’ve said what I wanted to say and apologize sincerely, if I may have offended anyone. Even if you don’t agree with the comment I posted, I hope you can at least respect my right to have an opinion about the way I feel. Good day everyone!

  8. Thanks for keeping it real somethingsosweet but I’m going to give you a piece of advice a good friend told me years ago. Nobody gives a shit, so shut the fuck up and get over it. All the best.

    1. SomethingSoSweet

I get your advice, and no I won’t worry about this, because there’s no reason to. However, you could’ve found a better way to say what you said. Anyway, thanks for the comment.

  9. Some valid points for sure. However the porn is a legitimate entertainment industry, and as thus should have awards to recognized the best. What they don’t need are awards like the cybersocket and grabbys that make a mockery of it. Sure some of the nominees have earned it, and some who actually get the awards deserve it. The ones that don’t deserve, devalue the ones that do.

    1. SomethingSoSweet

Thanks for the comment. I do see what you’re saying, and understand totally. You make a great point. No, I’m not right about everything, contrary to what a few others might think, lol.

    2. In any branch of the entertainment industry, most of the awards are not strictly merit-based. They’re the end result of focus & opinion polling, payola, and shock value to make sure people tune in (or show up) for next year’s awards.

  10. Someone needs to relax & take a valium… it’s a PORN awards show! Nobody said is was anything else but a porn awards show. If you do not have first hand knowledge of the industry (let’s say for example by WORKING in the industry)then you sound idiotic making such rash generalizations about the entire industry. Girl, sit down!

    1. SomethingSoSweet

First and foremost, I wasn’t born a girl, therefore I don’t appreciate being called one, if that’s alright with you. Secondly, I may not be part of the industry, but I don’t have to be, to know what kind of bad things go on from within. I’m entitled to my opinion, so hey, I’m just expressing myself the way I see fit. Thanks anyway for your comment.
