David Trice was one of several people who infringed on intellectual property by selling copyrighted adult content to porn fans on eBay. Corbin Fisher successfully sued him for $15,000 in damages for each of the 66 DVDs he sold, and Corbin Fisher is continuing to pursue damages from several other co-defendants in the ongoing eBay piracy ring lawsuit.
AVN reports that Corbin Fisher CEO Brian Dunlap stated:
Mr. Trice faced a potential liability of $9.9 million, but due to his cooperation and contrition in the case, we agreed to reduce our claim by a factor of 10.” [Fellow co-defendant Eric] Brown has been a lot less cooperative, so we don’t plan to take it easy on him.
SD City Beat reports that Corbin Fisher’s legal weapon is the Digitial Millennium Copyright Act, “1998 federal legislation that lays out the remedies for electronic copyright theft.” This ruling comes just weeks after Corbin Fisher sued porn star Jake Lyons, along with the escort site Men4RentNow, for $1 million after the 19-year-old performer violated his contract by uploading Corbin Fisher stills to his personal escort profile.
The sum in that Jake Lyons lawsuit struck me as a bit egregious, considering that the co-defendant is a cute little teenage porn star, but I’m all for going after the low-life DVD bootleggers. Nobody can blow a creamy lawsuit facial quite like Corbin Fisher, and with the onslaught of shady adult content pirates across the globe, somebody’s got to do it. What’s more, the San Diego-based studio just won the Free Speech Coalition Award of Excellence after donating $60,000 to gay rights organization Equality Florida.
So sue away Corbin. Also, sorry for stealing the above image from your website.

Corbin Fisher ruined my life. I am prepared to begin to seek damages for defamation of character. I think Liberty Media holdings owes me an apology. I think it would be good for this apology to come in the form of a check.

Just a little (very inexpensive) lesson on “fair use.” You stated”sorry for stealing the above image from your website.” One *might* be able to argue that this is “fair use,” since you are using it to illustrate a news story, you’re not using it for a commercial purpose (in other words, for advertising), and you only used one image out of a whole lot available.
On the other hand, there are arguments as to why it is not “fair use,” but I won’t belabor you with them at this time.
Suffice to say that Corbin Fisher does not mind “fair use” of its images, in a limited capacity. However, we would ask that if a news organization chooses to use our images, that you at least provide a caption that states “image courtesy of Corbin Fisher © Liberty Media Holdings” Had you asked in advance, we would have granted permission on those terms.
Accordingly, we respectfully request that you add that caption to the photo.
