While filming his new “reality show” for MTV last week:
According to my source at the event, Savage was in the middle of answering a question from a student who was wondering if her boyfriend was a freak because he watched porn featuring trans women. Savage suggested that her boyfriend was a freak, while freely using the terms “shemale” and “freaky tranny porn.” That is when two individuals ran up and threw glitter on him yelling “Transphobe!” Someone from the MTV tech crew muttered “Oh, not again!” Savage laughed it off and said that being gay he loves glitter.
How convenient. A question about tranny porn (which is what it’s called, sorry) precedes the “glitter bombing”–with cameras rolling, of course. Will an MTV-sanctioned stunt like that make good teevee though? Is glitter as captivating a spectacle as a fat midget Italian whore getting drunk? What an exciting time this must be in Dan Savage’s life.
Dan always had an interesting voice in popular culture. One that I always found to be contraversial in the manner that it sparks dialogue on both sides. Valuable when it pertains to LGBT issues.
Unfortunately MTV is a manipulative/disrespectful forum and I’ll be leaving that conversation.
Snookie is not Italian. She’s South American (Chilean I think) and she’s adopted. And I agree I call it tranny porn. Why be politically correct on porn? Any porn is bound to offend someone, so why the need to be PC?
