Jake Jaxson’s “highly sexualized morality play” Answered Prayers continues this week with a second installment focusing on a despicable, probably closeted, conservative TV pundit played by Chris (a.k.a. GoGo) Harder who’s gotten into a strained but mutually beneficial relationship with a Reiki masseur and healer, played by Diesel Washington.
The second short film in the ambitious and arty series, The Healer, which had a Christmas Day premiere, comes a month after the first, The Banker, which starred Ricky Roman and Jake Bass. The overall remains the same, and still a little confusing: Jake plays Jinks and Max Carter plays his brother Moloch (renamed since we last heard of him as Malik), and both are “ancient beings fighting for the hearts and mind of mankind” through acts of “hypocrisy, manipulation, fear, loathing, revenge, secrets, luck, and love.” Jinks is the good one, and Moloch is the bad one, and Jinks is trying to “save” each of the characters who appear from their more cynical or fearful human tendencies. Through sex, or something. Neither of them is directly involved in The Healer, though Jinks’s sons, played by Bravo Delta, Dillon Rossi, and Levi Karter, do make brief appearances, and both Jake and Max appear in the lengthy pre-sex bit here too, conducting these manipulations from afar, with Jake narrating.
The mini-plot here, leading to Diesel aggressively hate-fucking Chris’s mouth and ass on a massage table, is that Diesel has been living with Chris, kind of as a kept boy, and he seems kind of tortured by it. And he’s definitely suffering some emotional abuse from the bitchy mouth of Chris’s character, whom he calls a hypocrite at the opening of the scene. I’ve got to give both props for some fairly natural acting here, especially Diesel, who believably goes from wounded and seething to his usual aggressive-top self. Then, it seems, he hands Chris off to be carted away by Levi, Bravo, and Dillon. We’ll see where that leads. Though at this pace it might be March before we see the conclusion of this series.
