During a recent episode of the Discretion Advised podcast, hosts Marc MacNamara and John Hill briefly talked about those who prefer plot vs. those who are only there for the action during an interview with Real Housewives of New York legend Jill Zarin. During the chat, the reality star revealed that they’re a huge fan of the hetero porn classic Debbie Does Dallas and that they personally are someone who needs some type of plot in their adult entertainment.

Jill goes on to talk about how she thinks that most men would rather just watch the actual sex and totally forgo any type of story, but Marc, who has directed plot-heavy pornos like A Murdered Heart and Get.Away. for NakedSword Originals, reveals that that’s actually not the case when it comes to gay porn. According to the director, apparently there is a huge market for porn that focuses on plot.
“See that’s what I thought, but for some reason, the gay porn story ones sell more than straight-up all-sex,” spilled Marc. “So somewhere in there, people want a story…”

Sex is sex. It doesn’t REALLY change from one scene to the next. Or from one movie to another. Sometimes, depending on the studio, even the guys don’t really change. What makes a sex scene interesting really is the plot – the set-up and the aftermath. At the end of the day, no matter what kind of porn you like, in some way, the viewer fantasizes about inserting themselves into that scene. So whether people realize it or not, they are developing a plot in their heads one way or another. The plot line can make or break a movie. A great plot can keep you glued from beginning to end. A bad plot line or no plot line will make the fast-forward button your favorite friend. Just saying.
I really like a good plot to set the scene the anticipation and build up ,,I tend to not bother with sites or scenes were the guys just get right into it with stupid music playing

Totally agree with you about Disruptive Films. They’re well scripted and reasonable believable which makes them especially hot.
I want a plot, but it has to be believable, not something so far fetched it couldn’t actually happen in reality. For just one example, nobody would strip naked and fuck on a bus or subway train. That would turn me right off.

Depends, sometimes the story part is so stupid that makes me cringe and other times it just fits the environment of the scene.
It does not have to be a full on plot story. But the first scene should set the tone for the rest of the porn off. Like an old video from a few years back, “He Fucked My Father”. That was with Ken Mack as the dad and several twink actors at the time as the son & friends. One of the friends thinks his friends dad is hot. They fuck at the end but several other scenes of fucking no plot. So the beginning and ending is tied together.

I have NEVER cared about plots in porn. All I’ve ever wanted to see is hot guys having hot sex in a decent environment. That’s it. Porn producers trying to turn porn into art with laughable plots, series arcs, ridiculous costumes and set designs, etc. is more annoying to me than I can possibly describe. I’ve gotten used to fast-forwarding and muting when it’s become too much.

Depends who is presenting the plot. I will almost always skip over all the bad acting, but it’s no deal breaker.

The turn of the century had the best balance of plot and sex: 5 scenes in 100 minutes. Chip Daniels’ Centaur Films had the best ratio of exposition to fucking. Now the sex part just goes on too long.
