Much beloved San Francisco drag queen Juanita More! performed this cracked-out version of Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” as the opening number at the 2007 Miss Trannyshack Pageant. 

Trannyshack, and the pageant, are of course dead and gone.  But the brilliance of individual acts lives on thanks to YouTube.  Special thanks to Mercy Fuque for editing together this footage.

If you’re in SF, you can hear Juanita spin most Wednesdays at her party Booty Call, which re-opens after a two-week hiatus at the newly renovated Q Bar–in the space of the former Bar on Castro at 456 Castro Street.  New Yorkers can catch her at Mr. Black on Friday, February 13th.
