Reflecting on June, the power month of Gay Pride, two of the world’s leading porn sites, xHamster and PornHub, released some stats about who watches the most gay porn and what gay porn they predominantly like.
When you put their results together, it makes for a complete picture. And begs a question: does the gay porn that is being produced correlate with what people are looking for? And … does that change based on location?
Back in 2014, PornHub correlated what we all knew: the holy rollers in the Bible Belt where marriage equality was then still a dream, were the biggest consumers of gay porn.
When PornHub updated the map in 2017. They found gay porn represents 6.3% of all US page views. But as this chart illustrates, some states are proportionately far more likely to be viewing gay content than others. Topping the list of gay viewing states is Mississippi. I guess the south really will rise again.
In the tube-centric free-for-all that has transformed the porn market world wide, here at home, X Hamster took a look at the gay porn categories that their uploaders added the most to.
Do those gay porn X Hamster uploads match what people are searching for on PornHub? For the most part, yes indeed.
