Google Pulls “Is My Son Gay?” App

Hopefully they can replace it with an app called “Am I Fucking Retarded?” because people who had the time and inclination to complain about this are fucking retarded.

Really? An “app” for a phone, which was probably a joke anyway? That’s the cause du jour (that’s French for “kill me now”) for some over-sensitive gay who protests every single little thing that he decides is offensive, ironically making him look like the whiny faggot that he hates being stereotyped as in the first place?

Some people have way too much time on their hands:

‘Is My Son Gay’ was released early last week, causing an uproar on Twitter and a host of line comments hat slammed it for being homophobic and relying on stereotypes.

The app posed 20 questions, including ‘does he care about how he dresses?’ and ‘does he read the sport pages?’. It then offered three results; ‘gay’, ‘normal and modern’ and ‘not gay’. The last option assured mothers they ‘did not have to worry’ because they would have grandchildren.

On Monday, the app page was no longer available on Android Market. A representative of the company that developed it, Emmene-moi, told SBS that Google had pulled it from the site unilaterally.

Google has declined to comment.

Android Central, a website that offers news and reviews on Google and Android products, was quick to distance itself from the app after a barrage of tweetes erroneously blamed it for the app.

“Demand that @Google & @AndroidCentral dump homophobic “Is My Son #Gay?” app NOW, no excuses! #LGBT,” the tweets said.

With the daily minutiae of inconsequential things that are supposed to be so upsetting, I just don’t have it in me anymore to sympathize with the so-called gay rights movement. Sorry. Why should anyone take a movement seriously when one day its members are speaking out against teenage suicide and the next they’re accusing some robot phone of being a homophobe? Is anyone even genuinely pissed off about anything anymore or has everyone just become accustomed to acting like victims of everything?

  1. the stereotypes on this app were boring, overused, and not very original. all gay people are great dressers and not into sports. zzzzzzzzzz. the part that is actually a bit offensive is the one result “normal”. who’s to say what is and isn’t normal.
it is strange however that you get so upset over this. what, it’s a bad thing google is distancing itself from it. talk about being a whiny faggot. and you know if it wasn’t for the “so called gay movement” you seem to take for granted it would definitely be harder for people like you to be making a living off of gay porn.

  2. Reminds me of those old magazine questionaires such as “10+ questions to know if your boyfriend/husband/wife/girlfriend is cheating on you.” or Money Mag’s survey. “10+ questions to know if you’ll be a millionaire.” Stupid. And yes everyone wants to be a victim… for money and 15 minutes of fame. Sad

  3. anyone know an estimate on the number of ppl who actually added the app? personally the app sounds like a waste of time and shouldn’t have been taken seriously, not even to complain.
