Brock Banks

Have You Ever Been Fetishized in a Way That Made You Uncomfortable?

Brock Banks recently shared Grindr messages he received that opened up a conversation on stigmas, kinks and fetishes—with more porn stars adding their thoughts, including Boomer Banks, Wade Wolfgar and Cain Marko. What have your experiences been? Have you ever been fetishized in a way that made you uncomfortable, or fetishize someone else in a way that you regret?

Brock Banks has always been open about his experiences in the industry, and the struggles he has faced. Last December, he asked his peers about the challenges HIV+ performers had being cast by studios. And late last week, he started another conversation with this tweet, where he shared a few messages he received on Grindr from a “bug chaser” and noted: “i don’t find it cute to use HIV/AIDS to get off. Idk is it just me?

The original tweet Brock referenced was deleted, but his new ones above generated many replies. Boomer Banks (who recently had a great article written about him in hivplusmag) chimed in with a handful of thoughts, noting that “I am not into perpetuating stigma towards HIV” and that “perpetuating a stigma is not a kink!”

Boomer Banks and Wade Wolfgar also had a back-and-forth discussion on Brock’s thread regarding the issues faced by HIV+ people, along with the fetish of “race play” that people of color have to deal with. Shared Boomer: “This type of behavior is a weekly thing and I been undetectable for 19 years it use to be worse”:

Bruce Beckham and Osiris Blade also added to the conversation:

And Cain Marko then added his own lengthy tweet that continued the conversation on the HIV stigma, “poz play” and “race play,” kinks and how some fetishes are related to trauma (the performer notes that “impact play” has helped him deal with the childhood abuse he suffered):

In addition to Brock replying to Cain’s thread, so did Wade, Vince Parker and Jake Nicola:

What do you think of the conversation? Have you ever been involved with poz play or race play? Have you ever been fetishized in a way that made you uncomfortable, or fetishize someone else in a way that you regret?

  1. This confirms the comments Brock and Boomer made, were good in dealing with HIV/AIDS and the stigma no matter what side of the issue you stand. From fetishes to one’s personal views on the entertainment field, we enrich ourselves and others by talking about it. Have a good day everyone and keep talking!

  2. I don’t even know what to say to people into poz play…. don’t they realize the fight many have gone through just to live? So it has been about 25 years since the life changing approval of protease inhibitors, but people still can and do die. Add to that poz people who are stable and undetectable have been proven to not be able to transmit hiv, all I can say is if you want to bug chase, go hang out with COVID patients without PPE, then lock yourself up alone for 3 weeks so you don’t infect anyone else. I lived through the years people were dropping left and right, and it is why there is a gap of available men around my age.
Race play fetish is something I just don’t get… it actually is kind of a turn off to me. I have dated people from every walk of like, except transgender, but when I am with someone, it is because I am attracted to them, not for some fetish, and prefer (for me) that in bed, we are equals in enjoying ourselves and bringing enjoyment to each other.

  3. Wait? He’s HIV+ and still shooting only fans content? OH HELL YEA! This death pool money is mine! Me and some buddies have a death pool on which porn star will get Covid and die and I think I might have a goos chance at winning this now. My buddy had boomer though so he too had a good chance of beating me.

    1. hey I might want in on that death pool, do onlyfan porn stars also count? I want DamagedBottom if that’s the case. That mofo is traveling like crazy and he’s bound to get sick soon.

  4. Brock needs to grow up and mature. He’s a sex worked and it comes with the territory he. Reds to realize he’s a thing we’re paying for to do our bidding.

    1. Sex workers are humans too. They are not objects. If you can not respect sex work and sex workers then you literally should not watch porn. If you beat off to porn or anything then you have no choice but to respect the service they do for you SMH

    2. The comments here are disgusting. Sex workers are not here just to satisfy your most base desires and be tossed away like yesterday’s newspaper.

These judgemental holier than thou “opinions” say more about the sad pitiful empty lives of the commentator than anything they could ever write.

      The arrogance is shameful.

Tolerance of intolerance is a fool’s tolerance.

BTW in re: Yuk someone’s yum… is it okay if their yum is 8 year olds*, or are their limits, and if so who sets them?

      *intentional hyperbolic

  5. I don’t judge what turns other people on. If you don’t like what another person wants… block, ignore, find another person, etc…

  6. Brock and boomer are both in the wrong here. They need to just shut up and not tweet or else they’re going to destroy their career.

    1. Not really. They are entitled to their opinion. As for their careers, Boomer has a career outside of porn. As I stated in my first comment: Anything worth fighting for never comes easy. Speaking up is one of those things. A career in porn is rarely lifelong.

  7. He brought attention to a subject that people normally dismiss. There is no right or wrong opinion. Sometimes people over analyze things and end up taking it the wrong way.

  8. Brock is really acting like the victim. I’m so disappointed I just went ahead and canceled my subscription to his onlyfans. Shame!

    1. That is a part of the stigma. How we all respond can make a person feel either empowered or the opposite, a victim. You choosing to cancel, is nothing new in expressing how you feel. But the discussion is out there.

  9. We need to cancel Brock Banks, he’s always saying rude and just downright horrible things. I am disgusted he is now shaming individuals who might have a kink. He needs to get canceled I’m tired of waiting.

    1. That’s not a kink. Over sexualising porn stars who are just doing a job and making a kink out of a lifelong and in some cases life limiting condition is disgusting. I respect Brock, Boomer and Cain so much right now. SEX WORKERS ARE HUMANS TOO. SHOW THEM RESPECT. IF YOU CANT RESPECTS SEX WORK AND THE PEOPLE WHO DO IT THEN DON’T WATCH PORN

  10. Bravo to Brock, Boomer and others who are speaking out and starting conversations regarding HIV/AIDS. Be it fantasize or fetish. We got over HIV/AIDS by way of talking about it and understanding it with compassion and care for your fellow gay/bi or transgendered person. It is still with us but at least it is a manageable disease that is no longer a “death sentence” and forced people back into that dark closet. We have come too far than too let someone being offended by a entertainer having the courage to ask.

Maybe, the topic or issue could have been handled with better wording. But not all of us have commandeered the way to put things in a question without offending anyone. Or in proper context. But thank you to those who are still fighting to get rid of the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. The saying is true: The more you know, the better off you will be.
