You’d think the opening parties at a porn convention would be a hate free zone. Think again.
[UPDATE #4 – Monday 4/4/16]
Sometimes even the ugliest matters have forward-looking outcomes. Tihomir sent The Sword the following statement regarding his involvement in the anti-gay incident we have been following:
Thank you again for taking your time today and talking to me face to face.
As explained earlier today have I no memory of such a shameful and inappropriate behaviour. Which – to be honest – scares me the most.
Yes, it was a long night and probably a few drinks too much, but that is no excuse, and as you have hopefully realised yourself today I am not that person and strictly reject any such behaviour.
So whomever it is I accordingly hurt/scared at that moment, please pass on my apologies. Which I will hopefully get the chance to do in person, too.
That said I hope it is clear that I have nothing against the gay community and am not homophobic at all.
Everyone is on board with the fact this should have never happened in the first place. Tihomir was contrite and sincere. Something else everyone is on board with, the impact on the PornTeam representative it happened to was more than regrettable. It diminished his feeling of personal safety to the detriment of his experience for the entire show.
Homophobia is lessened one evolved mind at a time. This is one of those times with an impact we hope will last far beyond the duration of this show. The Phoenix Forum has always fostered not just tolerance, but acceptance. That may be truer this year than ever before.
[UPDATE #3 – Sunday – 4/3] Tihomir came to meet with The Sword before we left Arizona. He expressed regret and contrition. We are expecting a statement from him within the next 24 hours. We have also reached out to the PornTeam representative for an updated statement from him as well. We will keep you posted.
[UPDATE #2 – Saturday – 4/2] Tihomir Perkovic has made contact via mutual friends. He avoided the venue this evening to prevent further exacerbating things. He also said he will be personally reaching out to apologize. The Sword will keep you abreast as the situation continues to develop.
The Phoenix Forum is for professionals in all aspects of the adult industry gay and straight. Sexuality, either your own or the audience of the company you work for, shouldn’t be an issue at a porn convention. Only some hating Neanderthal named Tihomir made it one.
The event as going full swing, and like any party, everyone ended up congregated around the bar. That included a representative from PornTeam, the gay DVD online store.
There was a large group having a lively conversation about sex when the PornTeam rep said to one of the men in his immediate air space, Tihomir, that under the right circumstances, wouldn’t he let a guy suck his dick? It was a question posed as a statement.
Tihomir grabbed the rep by the throat and snarled “NO!!!” This was not pretend. This was not for laughs. This was an assault. This was especially virulent given the universal atmosphere of acceptance that is a trademark of The Phoenix Forum. Nonetheless, everyone in the room recognized it for what it was: an expression of unbridled hate.
