[[[UPDATED]]] This is What Phobic Evolution Looks Like

You’d think the opening parties at a porn convention would be a hate free zone. Think again.

[UPDATE #4 – Monday 4/4/16]

Sometimes even the ugliest matters have forward-looking outcomes. Tihomir sent The Sword the following statement regarding his involvement in the anti-gay incident we have been following:

Thank you again for taking your time today and talking to me face to face.

As explained earlier today have I no memory of such a shameful and inappropriate behaviour. Which – to be honest – scares me the most.

Yes, it was a long night and probably a few drinks too much, but that is no excuse, and as you have hopefully realised yourself today I am not that person and strictly reject any such behaviour.

So whomever it is I accordingly hurt/scared at that moment, please pass on my apologies. Which I will hopefully get the chance to do in person, too.

That said I hope it is clear that I have nothing against the gay community and am not homophobic at all.

Thanks,
Tihomir

Everyone is on board with the fact this should have never happened in the first place. Tihomir was contrite and sincere. Something else everyone is on board with, the impact on the PornTeam representative it happened to was more than regrettable. It diminished his feeling of personal safety to the detriment of his experience for the entire show.

Homophobia is lessened one evolved mind at a time. This is one of those times with an impact we hope will last far beyond the duration of this show. The Phoenix Forum has always fostered not just tolerance, but acceptance. That may be truer this year than ever before.

[UPDATE #3 – Sunday – 4/3] Tihomir came to meet with The Sword before we left Arizona. He expressed regret and contrition. We are expecting a statement from him within the next 24 hours. We have also reached out to the PornTeam representative for an updated statement from him as well. We will keep you posted.

[UPDATE #2 – Saturday – 4/2] Tihomir Perkovic has made contact via mutual friends. He avoided the venue this evening to prevent further exacerbating things. He also said he will be personally reaching out to apologize. The Sword will keep you abreast as the situation continues to develop.

The Phoenix Forum is for professionals in all aspects of the adult industry gay and straight. Sexuality, either your own or the audience of the company you work for, shouldn’t be an issue at a porn convention. Only some hating Neanderthal named Tihomir made it one.

The event as going full swing, and like any party, everyone ended up congregated around the bar. That included a representative from PornTeam, the gay DVD online store.

There was a large group having a lively conversation about sex when the PornTeam rep said to one of the men in his immediate air space, Tihomir, that under the right circumstances, wouldn’t he let a guy suck his dick? It was a question posed as a statement.

Tihomir grabbed the rep by the throat and snarled “NO!!!” This was not pretend. This was not for laughs. This was an assault. This was especially virulent given the universal atmosphere of acceptance that is a trademark of The Phoenix Forum. Nonetheless, everyone in the room recognized it for what it was: an expression of unbridled hate.

  1. Reactions like that from ‘straight’ men, especially when so emphatic, always make me think CLOSET CASE!

  2. He’s at a Porn convention well aware that it’s a mix of gay and straight companies, I don’t care how idiotic the question is, that’s just some fucked up homophobic shit.

  3. Tihomir Perkovic is Croatian, lives in Germany and is NOT Swiss.
He just works for a company with its registered address in Switzerland… No neutrality needed here…

  4. There are plenty of guys that would not welcome a blow-job from another guy. There are plenty of guys that would welcome a blow-job from another guy. Whether a particular guy works in a particular industry (the Adult Industry, Fashion, Construction, Teaching, etc.) says nothing about what they will do, or won’t do with another male! Plenty of guys in the gay adult industry are unwilling to perform certain sex acts (leather, domination, piss, scat, etc.), while other guys are willing participants. Nor does working for a “white label dating site” says anything about what the guys are willing to do, or have done to them of a sexual nature.

Are we now going to suggest that just because a person does a certain job or earns money from a certain industry – that implies what “they must do …”? Or to be astonished that such a person does not “do something”? For example – “You’re a stripper, and you don’t work the streets?” Making such a connection from a person’s “job” and what they will or will do in their private life is a big leap!

To most guys, asking the question – “Are you willing to let a guy give you a blow-job?” – is often a personal question! That kind of question is not “academic” or the kind found on a census form! It is a personal question of that person’s sexuality, however expressed. There are several interpretations and inferences that can be made from such a “not simple” question.

Each person has the right to decide for themselves what they are willing or not willing to do in a sexual way with another person, and to not have any judgements about such activity. That is something that gay folk have fought a long time for – respect for their sexual lives – what ever that life entails. Straight folks also deserve such respect – even if they decline to participate in male on male sexual activity.

Could Tihomir Perkovic have handled that personal question in a better way, and without touching or assaulting the person who asked it – YES!! He could have easily thought a proposition or sexual advance was being made, or he could have simply have been uncomfortable about such a question in public. This person could easily consider that question as a statement on their fidelity to their partner and their relationship. The person asking the question does not always have control over how the question is received and understood – they may have intended one meaning while another meaning was received.

Imagine yourself at a job-related convention and someone you’ve just met asked you – in a group with other folk – “Under the right circumstances, wouldn’t you let a guy suck on your breasts?”

  5. Tihomir Perkovic is not a Swiss name. This person is not Swiss — he is likely from the Balkans, Rumania, or Bulgaria.
