Hot Underwear Model Makes Awful Music Video

You might roll your eyes when you listen to Steve Grand’s weepy, screechy, wanna-be Lady Gaga county-pop snoozer, but you might stroke your cock when you see Steve Grand’s hot, nearly-naked underwear photos.

Between the antiquated “all-American” label (if the boy were Latino and had tattoos, they’d have to call him something else) and the gay guy falling in love with the straight guy, this feels like a softcore Corbin Fisher scene. (Or maybe Fratmen. The blond guy is actually a former model from that site named “Taylor.”)

Your ears will never forgive you for subjecting them to the signing and the lyrics, so do them a favor and watch Steve Grand’s “All-American Boy” with the sound off.

Hopefully Steve Grand (a.k.a. Steve Chatham) didn’t quit his day job as an insanely hot underwear model, because his real talent isn’t singing, it’s having a bulge.

  1. Once upon a time Country Music was Woodie Guthrie, The Carter Family, Merle Haggard, Flatt & Scruggs, Doc Watson, Loretta Lynn, Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys etc, out there on the picket lines with the miners or the cotton pickers singing songs to keep the boys’ spirits up. HUAC had them in their cross-hairs as Fellow Travelers. That’s when Country Music really meant something, when it was Working Folks vs. the Fat Bosses with their Cuban cigars and plush leather chairs in their Chicago or New York offices. Now the Fat Bosses run Country just like the run Hip Hop and Rock, and we have Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney. I defy anyone to tell them apart.

Since The Man in Black and Miss June went on to a Better Home, Emmylou is the last Keeper of the Flame.

  2. I don’t like that any opinion/criticism of an artist is somehow shoutin him down. If I dont like the guy Im not gonna support him just because he is gay and I think Zach has a right to say just that. I dont support every black artist because Im black, that is non-sense. I heard him and he is alright, nothing to write home about and for those of you claiming that he is a first maybe you all should remember that Drake Jensen has been making country music for years, he is out (his album is named OUTlaw) and he has a voice for this kind of music that is far superior. There is also Chely Wright, Kd Lang, Brandi Carlile, Maia Sharp, The Topp Twins, Mary Gauthier, and Wilma Burgess just to name a few other out and proud country music singers. This guy is getting the attention because he is playing up his sex appeal not because he is doing anything really on point. I will give him his props because this was a labor of love for him and hard work needs to be recognized, but not for being the first or even the best, just for being what another poster said novel.

    1. The difference between Drake Jensen and Steve Grand is that Drake Jensen didn’t publicly come out until years after he started his career. This is the first public release that Steve Grand has released, and from the beginning he wants his sexuality to be known. Also many of the ones you named didn’t come out publicly until years after their career flourished.

And it isn’t just that Zach criticized him about how he just doesn’t like the song, what has me upset is he has the nerve to bundle him up with that tasteless bitch Lady Gaga. In no way is this type of music any way related to that over the top shit she sings and have people producing for her. They’re on a completely different level, where Lady Gaga wants to be famous for being a freak show that she is more than her actual musical talent, and Steve prefers to focus on the music rather than trying to be some hot mess on stage.

      1. So what that Drake Jensen waited to come out of the closet, the fact is that he is out and proud about that fact now and he is recording as an out man with a far superior sound and voice. The same is true for all of the singers that I named. Steve Grand should not get a pat on the back and downloads for coming out of the closet at a time when it was much easier for him than it was any of the other artist I named. The fact that they were in closet when they recorded some of their music is irrelevant, the point is that all of them are out and proud and recording now, and all of them sound better than Steve Grand. Oh, and do not think that Steve is not selling himself like Lady Gaga. underwear model Abs or a Meat suit at an award show is the difference between half a dozen and six. Both have their gimmicks because if Steve Grand looked like Drake Jensen most of us would not know who he was, like Drake Jensen. It should not matter that he is gay, but it definitely is not going to make me buy his album or give him props just for being out from the “beginning”. I will buy his music if it sounds good and he produce great music.

I am not trying to defend Lady Gaga, but you seem to be the only person hung up on Zach’s comparison. His overall point was that the video was cheesy, and the music was awful. I would not go that far on the music, though I think he got it right on the video, but that is his opinion and I am sure that many agree. I do not care for Gaga but her music is for those who enjoy her and I will leave it at that because calling her no talent is too far to me.

As if he could possibly have kept it a secret after his modeling pics are all over the web. Sure, it’s great that he’s out right out of the gate, but he had no other choice, or no other wise choice. His story rings kind of hollow after learning more about his days as a model, but again, at least he’s not hiding or setting up some fake marriage.

  3. Shouldn’t we be giving the guy our support? He’s an out gay artist in country music… I mean that commendable in itself. Why must we be snarky queens? We should stand together as a community and support our own.

  4. All I’m going to say is that based on the general consensus from everywhere else, people seem to like the song. Sorry Zach, but it looks like you’re in the minority. :-P

  5. foreign shores

I liked it… and him. Even when the guy goes back to his girl, he’s not mean to the singer.

I think it shows the gays in a better light than the lip-synching drag queens that others mentioned too.

  6. I do wonder if this is some sort of reverse psychology thing going on here? Thanks to Zach’s negative blog post plenty of posters came out of the woodwork posting postitive and supportive messages regarding the topic.

The moment Zach’s hating on kittens, puppies, and Colby Keller I know I’m right.

  7. It’s always funny to watch a bunch of gay guys slam music and singers when ‘they’ made millionaires out of no-talent hacks like Cher, Madonna, something named Kylie, and Lady GaGa ….seriously. It might not be a perfect song, but at least it’s not the overused, trashy dance beat crap that fags always seem to fall for. Those ‘porn stars’ that think they can sing don’t hold a candle to this.
Congrats Steve Gand -, and remember, these guys condemning you are the ones who applaud men dressed as women lip-syncing to tired old hags.

      1. I’m not trying to ‘win people over’ to anything…I’m simply making a point or two. A bit sensitive are you?

          1. I’m sorry for your sad little life aslogan-here’s hoping things get better and not bitter for you.

    1. OH, STF up! If your worth as a gay man is based on anonymous comments left on a gay porn news site, the problem is all yours. Take your concern trolling to the ex-gay meetings.

  8. I’m fairly shocked that no one commented on the fact that the subject of the unrequited love is Taylor from Fratmen.

  9. From his nakedness in the video, he clearly knows his audience. I say ‘good for him’ for making a song that isn’t cookie cutter and will probably ‘shock’ the country audience. Hope he does well with it.

  10. I really hated that adobe retro hazy feature they put on it to make it seem romantic or nostalgic. Before the music even started, that was like a red flag of unoriginal rehashed crap.

As far as the music, I don’t even know what genre that is. Pop? Country? I don’t like either very much, so i can’t judge it objectively. I agree with another poster, it seems very generic. He’s good looking so he got some attention, he’s gay so he got even more attention. Props for him for doing what he wants to do.

To speak on some of the comments going on. I liked how Zach hated it, because that’s what he felt. This video has made it through a couple of the gay-blog circuits; praising it. Maybe it does need praising, who knows? But I don’t think we should praise anything and everything gay, for the mere fact that it’s gay.

  11. To be honest, I listened to it twice and really, though he can clearly hold a tune his voice is rather generic. I went to highschool with guys that sounded exactly like him and they always wondered why they did not “hit it big”. It is because there was nothing unique about their sound that would make you want to listen to them sing again and again or allowed you to pick them out of a vocal line up. I hate to say it because he appears to have some talent, but it is his looks and the fact that he is doing something novel that really catches your attention, not his voice. He does need some serious vocal work with a qualified coach because his singing habits are bad and will cost him what voice he does have if he does not change them. Good for him though, to finance this on his own is a heck of a feet and the final product (though admittedly “antiquated”) is expected for this genera and so I have to say it works well!

    1. Oh a perfect voice does not matter in the music industry. If it did, then terrible generic-voiced hacks like Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Madonna (yes her voice his extremely generic and uninspiring), Britney Spears, etc. would have amounted to nothing. In fact the majority of the the American Idol contestants have a much better voice than the majority of “professional” singers, yet they amount to nothing. His voice is decent enough, but it is his personality and act that has to be intriguing to stir up interest and a fan base in order for him to become more successful.

  12. Now this is a stud that could give Topher DiMaggio a run for his money, or better yet get Topher to do a face down, ass up impression. Actually I thought he wasn’t half bad at all at singing. Yes I was a fan of Steve Grand before he branched out into singing. Had no idea he was gay. Coming out like this is in music before you hit it big is commendable, I hope it doesn’t hinder his chances to appeal to all audiences.

    1. “Now this is a stud that could give Topher DiMaggio a run for his money” now that was too fucking funny! Steve Grand is WAY hotter than that living photoshop, and so are many guys in porn out there. Topher is about as real as Rafael Alencar’s ass.

  13. DNA #127 cover model..One of the hottest models to ever appear on the cover of DNA magazine. I still have my copy..LOL….I wish he would do porn! Too bad Zach you didn’t show the pic of him in a wet see through underwear like on his cover of DNA…. Total Stud!

  14. Theres nothing wrong with his voice, he’s pretty good actually, and I liked the song, lit’s just good old fashioned pop-country, I look forward to see/hear what he does next, appreciate the photo postings, but I could do without the snark.

  15. Fuck you Zach, you have some God damn nerve calling him a lady gaga wannabe. His music style is far from that godawful pop disco shit that bitchy queens like you and many others love so much. I seriously can’t stand that shit, and can’t stand it even more that people, especially my gay friends, expect me to love that type of shit.

I seriously am glad that he came out with this song. I’m not one to actually even like this type of music style, but I like it because it’s different than what we are accustomed to hearing the gay community produce. I’m so glad that there is a new gay man in music that isn’t some stupidass recycled pop music bitch or some ex-pornstar turned trainwrecking-laptop DJ.

  16. Zach, I love you and want to have your babies, but lighten the fuck up. It’s not bad and it’s pretty ballsy of him to put this out and try to make a career in a genre other than house/dance music as a gay man. And, he’s insanely hot. You don’t have to be bitter all the time in order to maintain your blogger cred.

  17. Man Zach, that’s really harsh. It’s his first release. He’s a newbie and according to info on other sites he financed the whole thing out of his own pocket.

Yeah, it’s cheesy at times, but I appreciate the effort the guy put behind the video and the song.

  18. Fuck y’all. I liked it. It’s not Johnny Cash but it’s harmless and made me smile. I know that’s dangerous saying you like something in a room full of gay men because you’ll instantly get hit with a gasping, eye rolling, tsunami of snarky bullshit. I know if I like something they’ll automatically have to hate it so they can look like the hippest, smartest guys in the room. It’s contrarian. There’s only 2 people who do snarky well. Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man and the other ISN’T YOU! . This is awful? Compared to what? What’s the gold standard you’re comparing this to? What’s the legitimate criticism here besides I like it so you have to hate it to feel superior? He’s not some porn star acting like a douche, he just sang a song for Christ sakes. This guy makes a video and ya’ll are going off like he’s the sex offender who moved into the neighborhood. Remember when the gay community produced something besides negativity? There have always been bitchy queens but tearing people down has become a gay blood sport. I used to go to a neighborhood gay bar that would attract artist gay and straight. Even if their talent was mediocre at least they knew they were in a place where they could grow and find their voice. It was a fun, interesting place until the hipster, bitchy gay borg moved in with their bad case of ” look at me.” Even Simon Cowell says something nice and encouraging every now and then. Oh well, I’m going to the movies with my straight friends, be happy, and participate in everything pop culture y’all hate. Enjoy you’re weekend, ( yeah, I spelled ” your” wrong just to give you something else to bitch about.) Go ahead, kick me in the balls and spew your venom. I wouldn’t expect anything less of you. FUCK ME.. I hate what we’ve become.

    1. “Remember when the gay community produced something besides negativity?”

Sure I do. We produced the end of anti-sodomy laws (2003), the demise of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (2011), and late last month got rid of DOMA. Those are some damn good productions. Maybe if you moved on from your failed love affair with this “bitchy gay borg” you would have noticed this.

  19. Wasn’t aware that faggits drank whiskey, I thought they only liked APpletinis!!

Anyway this is awful of course but if Taylor Shift sells millions of her whiny ass songs, this guy could probably do the same…They are on the same level to me, I don’t mean this as a compliment at all but I’m sure some people could interpret it this way.

This could also be the theme song for Ryan James Juzak documentary ” Second class citizens”!!

I know Zach is looking forward to this one…

    1. Didn’t the real Half Porco not even speak fluent English (not that this cracker is doing much better)? What sad homophobe trying to infiltrate and instigate shit hacked his account?

  20. I agree. His voice isn’t horrible — his vocal habits are, though. Drags and drags. If he actually got some training, he might be good.

I watched it twice just to watch a guy with washboard abs get rejected by a less attractive guy. Felt good.

      1. Would you say the same as colton ford? I would.

Beautiful man, great voice, crap music(no heart, or soul.)

I would be sexist to look at this music video and suggest that the agenda of this guy was to be notorious by their looks rather than talent, and not SAY THE SAME with his female counterparts–I mean, how many of our pop divas do this kind of a shoddy marketing ploy for attention? Are they our divas because they love gays, or do they use us for money? This guy singing in a jock strap is no different.

He will be forgotten as did his predecessors of sex appeal. Everyone gets old, and those that keep up the pretense get the attention they want, but not as desired objects, but sad lonely person. You aren’t original if you have abs.

  21. I would give up all my Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, and Lester Young albums for a three-day weekend with him. I would replace those albums with downloads of everything Madonna has ever “sung.”

      1. Posting on a gay porn news site about wanting to spend a three day weekend with a guy who, at minimum, is 25 year younger than me is the exact opposite of sophistication. So I have no idea what you are talking about.

        1. It was the name dropping of the singers you mentioned. It came off as pretentious, but perhaps you were genuine. It’s hard to tell anymore.

    1. James, you’re insane. Just think of The Lady Day singing “Easy To Love” at Cafe Society . . . Lester Young riffing . . . Who’d be ticklin’ the ivory? Teddy Wilson? Maybe Bud Powell? Cole with his twink of the week off in a discreet corner . . . I’d have given my left nut to have seen that!

  22. Admittedly it’s a horrible song that doesn’t really fit his voice but he does has a decent one. It was better than what I was expecting. Keep up the hard work Steve, and by hard work I mean your crunches and 2,000 calorie a day diet.
