How To Change Your Instagram Settings To Allow ‘Sexually Suggestive’ Content

Instagram is on their bullshit once again! The photosharing app, famous for over-censoring adult content creators and queer people, just announced that they’re enabling some even stricter policies to make it so “sensitive content” isn’t popping up in your feed.

“You can think of sensitive content as posts that don’t necessarily break our rules, but could potentially be upsetting to some people – such as posts that may be sexually suggestive or violent,” said the Facebook-owned company in a statement. “This new feature gives you control over sensitive content. You can decide to leave things as they are, assuming you’re satisfied with your experience today, or you can adjust the Sensitive Content Control to see more or less of some types of sensitive content.”

Instagram

To simply put it – Instagram is just continuing to censor pages by making it so everyone’s setting are automatically shadow banning anyone who posts anything that could be seen as sexually explicit. So if you’re one of those guys that likes their Explore page to be full of hot, shirtless men, then you better make sure your settings aren’t actively blocking all those semi-nude studs.

Your settings are probably already set to the “Limit (Default)” view where Instagram only sometimes displays “upsetting” content. In order to switch it so your feed shows some more… um… exciting material, all you have to do is go to your profile and tap the menu in the upper right corner, tap Account, then tap Sensitive Content Control.

Once you’re in the Sensitive Content Control, all you have to do is select your content preferences and then you’re done! Your Instagram should now allow you to see some hot guys show off their butts and tight, dick-defining underwear. (And just to clarify, this will only allow you to see “sexually suggestive” material. If you want actual gay porn, you’ll have to go to an actual gay porn site.)

So what do you think of Instagram’s new settings? Are they too strict? Have you ever had a post taken down for violating the app’s Community Guidelines? Sound off in the comments below and while you’re thinking about Instagram, make sure to give a follow to the official NakedSword Instagram page and the brand new official Falcon Studios Instagram page.

  1. I’m a non-binary, and I feel discriminated against a lot because of Instagram’s anti-queer content policy. They also recently introduced a sensitive content filter, and now this shadow banning is a default in the platform. So finding an instagram replacement is extra hard for people like me.
