I Receive An Email

The Sword has a column in the quarterly Just Us Boys magazine (you’ve probably been to their website, where you can read an online version of the magazine), and every issue has its own theme. The current theme, for example, is “All Stars,” so all the articles have something to do with what it means to be a gay porn “all star.” Marc Dylan is on the cover. My article was about Mike Branson.

Anyway, I just received an email alerting me to what the next issue’s theme is.

What do you guys think of this?

Hello,

I hope this email finds you all doing well. This next issue we will be featuring Straight Guys in the gay porn. The proposed title right now is “The Straight Side of Gay Porn” although this may change as we develop this issue. I would like for you to focus on everything from Straight guys in the industry, to your experiences of working with straight guys to your feelings on how straight guys fit in to our industry. If you have suggestions on guys that I should be featuring in this issue please let me know as soon as possible. I would like to have all articles by June 25th.

I’m opening this up to you, dear readers, partly because I’m lazy and don’t want to write about straight guys (I do that all day long on this blog!), but mainly because you (presumably) are the ones who purchase and consume gay porn. You (presumably) are the ones who care. So, let’s hear what you have to say about straight guys in gay porn. The best comments I receive below will be submitted as my article for the upcoming issue. They can be as short or as long and as nice or as mean as you want. Stay on topic, but please don’t be predictable (i.e., steer clear of Cody Cummings). If you want credit, use whatever name you want and I’ll credit you. There’s no pay.

  1. I agree with a lot of people here, and disagree with a lot.

First of all, I hate the argument of “If a man is having sex with a man, he must be gay.” Um…what about girls who do girl-on-girl porn? They don’t even call it gay porn! They call it girl-on-girl! But no one talks about “oh, she licked that girl’s snatch; she must be a lez.” No one even blinks an eye at it.

Now back to the idea at hand.

Gay porn, contrary to popular belief, apparently, has never been dominated by gay men. Even since it started, a lot of the performers have been straight. So now, since we all have computers and can type and such, we’re all, “OMG I HATE STRAIGHT MEN IN GAY PORN.”

Still though, I’ll take a straight man who performs well over a gay man who doesn’t anyday. It’s like with pop music. It doesn’t matter if you can sing. If you have enough of the right elements and the ability to perform, you’ll go farther than someone who can sing their ass off, but has a boring personality or no charisma. Britney Spears and someone like Leona Lewis come to mind.

That being said, I DO wish there were more gay men in gay porn. But if they’re not being hired, what is the reason?
So if a straight guy can perform well, and doesn’t shove it in our face that he’s straight (Tweets talking about how he fucked his girlfriend last night) then I’ll take him over some arrogant gay prick.

    1. I’m not so sure that their are more straight guys, I think what it is is Straight men are more hyped up as the sorta leading men of gay porn while all the gay men are pushed aside, for every Paddy “I’M STRAIGHT!” O’Brien who is practically a SNL parody of gay 4 pay, it’s almost ridiculous and perhaps the worst ever performer in gay is hyped up to a staggering amount, there is a Jimmy Durano or Trenton Ducati or Mathew Mason.

For ever boring robotic straight trade on randyblue, there is lowly fag that gets to suck… sorry, worship his straight Viagra filled dick.

Some of the best ever porn stars were gay, Blake Harper, perhaps one the best porn stars ever, Jason Ridge, Marco Blaze, Ross Huston, Brad Patton, Ben Andrews, Dean Phoenix, Bryan Slater, Matt Cole, Tom Chase, Dean Flynn, David Anthony, Tristan Jaxx, D.O. Luca Di Corso, Ken mack, Gus Mattox, Matthew Rush the list goes on and on, yet these guys are swept aside in order for the blogs to hype up Cody Cummings and the rest of the deeply annoying, utterly boring Nextdoor Male /Randy Blue straight “stars”.

      1. Blake Harper, Brad Patton, Bryan Slater, Matt Cole,David Anthony, have had sex with women, so no they are not gay

        1. Not quite sure what your point was. Using your line of reasoning, they’re not straight either since they’ve had sex with men.

        2. Actually you’re right Matt Cole ids as bisexual , but like Jesse Santana, Blake Harper and Spencer Reed and tons of other gay porn stars they seem to change their sexuality every other Tuesday from bi to gay to just sexual back to gay then back to bi. It’s very odd maybe Porn stars aren’t the sharpest tools in the box.

  2. What I find amusing, now that I think about it, is how many gay performers used late eighties-early nineties bi porn titles to cross over into wholly straight porn (some just dipping their toes in — usually involving porn’s den mom, Sharon Kane — prior to eventual retirement from porn altogether, others, like Charlie Stone/Eric Price, crossing over completely and trying to shed all traces of their gay porn identities), because so many of those guys were not well thought of by gay people and absolutely loathed by straight men.

Or porn granddaddy Jamie Gillis, who couldn’t really have ever been called gay-for-pay because he didn’t do a whole hell of a lot of gay porn (I think the only full-length feature where he actually had sex with a guy was in the original Boy-Napped from the mid-70s), but he knew his way around a bathhouse when the mood for no-limits, occasionally impolite sex hit him, the kind of sex that you couldn’t ask most civilian — and damn few sex professional caliber — women to have.

And where do we put someone like Christian XXX/Maxx Diesel? I mean, that’s one that’s fucked/been fucked by men, women, pre-op MTFs, and quite possibly several brands of furniture. Personally, I like watching him have sex with guys, but what I really enjoy is watching him get seriously mistreated and pegged by women.

Maybe I’m a teeny bit protofeminist in there somewhere.

Just thinking aloud. Or whatever the online equivalent of that is.

  3. Its classic homophobia. We have straight men having sex with straight men now being directed on camera by straight women. It’s robbing gay men of their sexuality. Classic blackface. I love that the female directors call themselves “honorary faggots” and such. That type of vile only works in the gay community where we suffer from massive self-esteem issues. But we have an answer don’t pull out your credit card.

  4. I rather watch a scene with gays performers than to watch a G4P performer, but there are a lot of gayforpay actors who are “enjoyable” in scenes and as long I don’t find an interview, tweet or comment trashing gay performers (and gays as a whole) that’s ok for me,if there’s a performer (gay,bi or gayforpay) I don’t appreciate I simply don’t watch the scene/film.

  5. Anything related to Malachi Marx will drive me crazy! As a str8 guy, Malachi always showed outstanding talents in gay scenes. Whaterver he said, he remains on the top of my list. Real Str8, bi, ashamed gay … he was absolutely perfect in the gay games.

    1. “Whaterver he said, he remains on the top of my list.”

Oh, like when he said he puked after having sex with another man?

  6. Mainly what Marc said. what annoys me is that some of these guys feel as if they have to insist that their straight and out of these guys, a few will go onto some places like facebook or twitter to talk about how much they don’t like it. If you don’t like what you are doing, then don’t do it. you don’t have to do gay porn to make money, and you’re not doing anyone a favor. I’d rather be watching someone who, regardless of sexual identity, likes to have sex and likes to put on a show for their fans. for all of this, they could’ve done straight porn and then they would’ve did us a favor by not having to view them

  7. There are no “straight guys” in gay porn. Anyone who believes otherwise is just feeding their own fantasies. At most, these guys are bisexual. I also find it funny (and a bit sad actually)that a growing number of delusional women, are also fueling this nonsense. Twitter has so many wow moments.;)

    1. I get the feeling that many of these women don’t actually watch the porn. I think it’s the… proximity to these men that’s the primary attraction, having a Twitter back-and-forth with your favorite gay-for-pay porn “star” (see funkycunt’s comment above).

I had one female on this board tell me she liked to watch “nice people have sex”. Dearie, you’re watching a straight man stifle his disgust just enough to fuck a guy for $$$ (and often they’ll admit as much). I seriously doubt they’re “nice people” IRL. (That goes for the gay ones as well.)

      1. Some women actually do watch gay porn. Honestly your comments couldn’t be more untrue. But you are entitled to your opinion as iam to mine. Were not all cunts!!

    2. OneOfTheManyChris

I really doubt you can blame this on the women. There just aren’t enough of them and I’m not seeing that they prefer G4P to just gay. It’s not like the straight guys are going to sleep with their female fans either. And you know, the ultimate chick fantasy is not tricking a beefy straight guy into boarding a bus, blindfolding him, and letting your boy-pal suck the moron while you sit back and crack up.

I think the answer is that there are a certain number of gay men who like to watch straight men have gay sex. In fact there’s so many of these gay men that there are actually gay performers who will pretend to be straight so that they be more convincing when they tell the pervy guy with the camera and the pile of money that they must have another $300 before they will consider assuming the position. And of course He Who Must Not be Named (ahem) has made a career out of pissing gay men off because the Dark Lord won’t even actually touch a dick lest he melt into a puddle. Weird thing is that people who know him in real life have said he’s pretty nice. In other words, guys are turned on by the fact that these are dudes who don’t like gay sex, don’t want to have gay sex, don’t have gay sex, but might in some weird fantasy world actually have gay sex.

I guess they’re playing on the fantasy that yes, if you offer the guy who sat with his chubby ass three feet in front of you all through Mrs. Grundy’s civics class enough Mad Dog 20/20 and talk really, really, nice to him for a few hours, that he may in fact give you a teensy bit of what you want before he pukes in the basement floor drain and passes out on the dirty laundry pile.

  8. GFP….They must be really broke to take dick after cock up the arse and then tell everyone they are straight. Who Cares! I just want to Austin Wilde bottom for the Blackest big cock they can buy for him! How can a half black bro. be in the industry and never have bottomed on film with real 100% black man?

  9. i think straight guys in gay porn is hot. it doesnt really matter to me if the guy is making it seem believable or not. in fact, its kind of hotter to see the straight guy just a LITTLE uncomfortable bcuz it doesnt matter about him…what matters is that the gay guy is enjoying it.

this isnt theater. this is porn. and porn is sex. so its hot to simply WATCH SEX. i dont care about the sexuality of the man as long as its a MAN. im not into girls or tranny porn so as long as its two guys with penises i dont care. and i dont understand all the hate. i dont care about the underlying ‘social issues’ that ride on the back of straight guys in gay porn. its about a fantasy. and i guarantee EVERY gay man has had PLENTY of fantasies about straight guys.

being pissed about straight guys in gay porn is like all the ‘little people’ that are pissed at the new snow white movie for not casting actual ‘little people’ to play the seven dwarves. so whats the big deal? this is porn. leave your morals at the door.

  10. I would love to say Gay4Pay has had its day; but it hasn’t. Though there are a growing number of gay men (ya know, the intended audience for gay porn) who are becoming more and more turned off or simply disinterested in Gay4Pay performers, there still exists a significant segment of gay porn consumers who thoroughly enjoy these performers. As a gay man, I think one of the biggest turn offs in recent years for me is the fact that a number of Gay4Pay performers seem to be more arrogant and indifferent toward their audience. They appear to view themselves as doing some level of community service or charity for the gay community by appearing in gay porn. Their performances seem to be less and less about pleasing their intended audience and more about their own self-promotion or “star” status. So you end up with G4P performers who are turning out mediocre performances that easily show their “disgust” or disinterest in performing; but based upon their attitudes, you would think they just power bottomed in a high energy gang bang while wearing a rainbow-colored dog collar. For me, I resent being looked at as a gay peasant whose sole purpose is to grovel at these guys’ feet no matter how predictable and boorish their performances are or how vapid and contemptuous they behave toward their primary intended fan base.

All that being said, often times I definitely feel like I am in the minority. I must be. These performers continue to grow in popularity and seem to be signed at a much higher frequency than gay or bi performers. I don’t really get off on a straight guy awkwardly fumbling through a gay scene; I get off on hot guys having (and believably enjoying) gay sex. So, are there straight performers out there who are putting out good work? Sure…but not most of them. But again, It would appear that based on their devoted fan bases and the industry’s love affair with straight guys, Gay4Pay has not only not had its day; it’s not going away.

    1. Because guys not into gay4pay don’t have to watch porn to get off, they can actually go out and have a great safe sex life with other gay men that they find hot.

Guys into gay4pay can’t do that, the only way to fulfill their fantasy is to watch it on screen. So it’s really the only sure fire financially certain trick gay porn companies have left. Gay 4 Pay is their mostly likely profit maker.

You feel like you are in the minority because gay porn isn’t made primarily for guys like you anymore.

  11. Seriously, here’s a minutely philosophical viewpoint on straight guys having gay sex.

There’s a difference between fucking another guy and wanting to be romantically involved with him, right?

So then, there’s a question of shading, if you will. Now, of course, there are those who will say that if a man gets all sexual with another man in any context (including, perhaps, something like a double vaginal/double anal, or, heavens forfend, triple penetration on a woman’s nether regions, given the inherent dick-on-dick contact involved), it amounts unequivocally to homosexuality. I say let those people think that, but it’s no more true than getting sexual with a woman amounts unequivocally to heterosexuality.

I’m not suggesting that the labels be dumped (though it certainly sounds like it, right?), but I am suggesting (living in Austin where these labels seem to mean a lot less than in many other places) that perhaps just because a guy is okay with having sex with another guy (even in a sex worker type context like porn or prostitution), or even enjoys sex with another guy (despite a strict sex worker context) that there’s no obligation to adopt a gay identity because of it, particularly if his affectional inclinations are primarily, if not exclusively, heterosexual.

So often we as gay men are alarmingly capable of compartmentalizing sex in astounding ways, why wouldn’t the same be true in ways that sidestep cultural expectations with regard to same-sex encounters for straight men or women?

Now, with all that said, g4p guys who are clearly not into the whole male-male sex thing and are completely incapable of faking it convincingly (Bo Dean, are you listening?) are a colossal waste of time.

  12. Lame…. do people read the magazine anyways?? Last time I saw it, looked like the size of a brochure at a rest stop.

  13. The guys who put in a good on screen performance, be they straight or gay, are always welcome. Those who don’t even bother trying and think having a nice face and a big dick is enough to get us to part with our cash can get lost.

  14. I prefer gay men in my gay porn. Ultimately I don’t mind straight guys in my gay porn as long as it looks like they’re into their scene partner. But if I can tell that they’re not engaged in the scene, why would I bother watching anything by that performer?

  15. “A women’s perspective” con’t : I guess the bottom line is if it turns you on then watch it!!! Everyone has there own choice what performers they like and if straight models embrace the industry they are in, then well they are going to be successful. As for women enjoying gay porn, well I just like HOT men, and I feel straight porn stars are never as good looking as gay models and don’t nearly have the awesome personalities as the people I’ve met in the gay industry. I would also like to give it up for the ladies behind the scenes of gay porn: Mr Pam, Naughty Laura D and Erynn Vaehne!!The are awesome. The End

    1. Also when I said “straight” porn stars I meant in the heterosexual industry, not straight models that do gay porn.

      1. And whaddya know? You can’t keep your comments contained in one reply…

“I want straight men in gay porn… uh durr…”

  16. Like it or not here it is “A women’s perspective – We just love Hot Men” Whether straight or gay its all about the performance, connection between models, personality and being HOT as hell doesn’t hurt either. Most straight men in gay porn, lets face it they like sex!! If they are going to be good at it, and successful they are going to have to break some barriers. I had the pleasure this past weekend to spend some time with both straight and gay porn stars at Gays Days in Orlando and it was the best time I can remember in years. Hanging out with an awesome “Gay” couple, and porn stars Austin Wilde and Anthony Romero. They seem to love what they do and are just great guys and of course fun ny as hell. But back to the topic of straight men. I also had the pleasure of spending some time and getting to know Christian Wilde. He is a gay porn model who is straight, but if you have seen any of his performances, especially lately on Naked Sword you can definitively tell he loves as he puts it “Gay Sex”. He is not afraid to be passionate during his scenes and embrace most of the things that are “expected” in gay porn. (Except bottoming, LOL)But then again there are a lot of gay men who won’t do that either.

    1. :|

The article’s for “Just Us Boys” magazine. Doesn’t sound like they’re really after the female perspective…

    1. Umm, no. Who doesn’t use G4P stars these days? Falcon, Raging Stallion, RB, SC, etc all have G4P. It’s not gonna be a NDS sponsored issue if our quotes don’t focus completely on just that one studio.
