Jake Cruise the Latest to Get Hit With Fines Over Condom-Less Porn

Longtime porn producer/performer and professional boner-killer Jake Cruise is the latest victim in the AIDS Healthcare Foundations campaign to shut down porn production in California.

Sure, you may argue that the AHF just wants everyone to use condoms, but their campaign to target porn production in particular seems spurious.

AHF and consequently Cal-OSHA (California’s workplace safety department) have already gone after Treasure Island Media — a studio which allegedly sero-sorts but which also could have been putting performers at risk — and TIM has repeatedly tried fighting the fines it’s on the hook for.

Now, it’s Jake Cruise’s turn. According to this press release from the AHF, “Cal/OSHA… has issued workplace safety violations and fines totaling $11,360 against adult film production company Jake Cruise Media for its productions of condom-less, or ‘bareback’ adult films.” At issue are Cruise’s lack of “an Exposure Control Plan,” lack of condom use, and lack of an Illness Prevention Program.

The news release is the first big one the AHF has done since the failure of AB 1576, which would have made condoms mandatory for all porn, gay and straight, in the state, and since the most recent industry HIV scare, which turned out to be a false one.

Jake Cruise, meanwhile, hasn’t appeared in much porn since that wheelchair period last year (aside from this recent cameo for Dominic Ford and a scene he did in July with Dustin Tyler) but his sites CocksureMen and Hot Dads and Lads.

  1. Who is paying the AHF? Because I think this is a irresponsible waste of money. Going after bareback studios? Do they really believe this will change anything at all? They should focus on educating young people. EDUCATION is key, not suing other people. Someone should sue them!

  2. Those laws, and AHF’s campaign is NOT about condoms.

If it was, the laws wording would have just been about condoms. Instead the law actually applies hospital and surgery safety laws to porn production. The word condom in these laws is and has been a red herring.

The laws would essentially make it impossible to actually shoot porn. It requires practices that aren’t applied to Hollywood. Can you imagine everyone on set for a thriller suited up in hazmat because they could get sweat or other body fluids on the crew? Actors protected with face shields incase they got spit on their faces from a screaming actor?

No. Weinstein’s motivations have little to do with condoms, it seems. Except in his obligations to manufacturer’s millions of dollars given to him. There is plenty of speculation around from the people who have to deal with him face-to-face that appears to indication that are other things in play. He is clearly trying to shut down adult entertainment in California entirely. And he has succeeded in most cases.

California is one of two states where porn production is clearly legal. There are a few states where it is ambiguous. But, now that this multi-billion dollar industry is forced into a diaspora of sorts, there are states who are looking at clearing the way for the industry to bring their business there.

One man is managing to pull off what rightwing groups have tirelessly worked at for decades.

  3. AHF has lost its way under the terrible leadership of Michael Weinstein who seems to have a personal vendetta against the porn industry. Does it seem rather odd that an AIDS organization is spending millions on lawyers and lobbyists to try and get a condoms mandatory law for porn produced in CA when the companies will just set up shop in others states like some have already. And where are the cases of porn actors getting HIV on the set while working a porn shoot. There have not been any but you won’t hear that from Weinstein. He is too busy trying to convince gay men not to protect themselves by going on PrEP by calling it a “party drug”. This man needs to be fired as head of the AHF and then the organization can return to what it is best at helping those with HIV/AIDS and helping to do research in finding a cure.

  4. i’m very freaked out on admitting this, but I would argue the statement about Jake being a boner killer. Theres something about an old age guy getting to enjoy a fine, young male piece of meat. I might have some issues lol but some of his scenes specially with rick mccoy were pretty hot and always my go to when I can’t find any good ones when jerking off…lol..dont judge :)

  5. OSHA is a federal agency charged with seeing that employers provide their employees with a safe and healthy work environment. They should be going after all porn studios, straight and gay, that allow, encourage or require their models to perform risky sex acts.

    1. Strangely, I never hear a critical comment from you when it is about the bareback scenes from Sean Cody, Corbin Fisher (I know, they film in Arizona) or BelAmi (I know, filming in the Czech Republic, South Africa or some other part of the world).

      1. Well Dutch, it is strange that you can read my comment above that says “They should be going after ALL porn studios” and not understand that by the word ALL, I mean ALL.

    2. And you should move to North Korea where the government does that sort of thing because it is not a free country. See here in the USA we are a free country and people are allowed to have sex with or without condoms it’s called personal responsibility.

  6. The only things “spurious” are the false claims and innuendo made in a blog written by a shill for one or more porn production companies that make a lot of money shooting bareback, condomless porn.

AHF is not engaged in any campaign to shut down porn production in California. AHF is not a regulatory agency. Nor does the government agency Cal/OSHA take direction from AHF.

As reported in a news release issued by Business Wire–not by AHF: AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has learned that California’s Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), has issued workplace safety violations and fines totaling $11,360 against adult film production company Jake Cruise Media for its productions of condom-less, or ‘bareback’ adult films.

Cal/OSHA issued three citations and fines:

    1) for not having an Exposure Control Plan (serious citation)—fine: $5,400;
    2) for not observing universal precautions (e.g. using condoms in filming—serious citation)—fine $5,400; and
    3) for not having an Injury and Illness Prevention Program in place (general citation)—fine $560.

What most people who are opposed to the use of condoms in porn don’t seem to realize is that condom use in adult film production is ALREADY the law under EXISTING Cal/OSHA authority. The porn industry has simply chosen to ignore these laws, with few, if any, repercussions to date for producers. OSHA is looking out for worker safety and reminding the entire industry that condom use—regardless of past or future legislation in Sacramento—already is the law.

    1. Because I really don’t know, are they going after straight porn too? Three were listed in this article, two of which were exclusively gay. Yet, overall, the straight porn has more condom-free productions than gay ones do. Or are we just not addressing the straight ones that were fined because this is a gay site?

    2. Under these laws it is also forbidden to suck a dick after ejaculation. Rimming would probably also not be allowed. The effect of the actions of OSHA and AHF ultimately will be that American companies start filming abroad (Mexico, Brazil etc.).

    3. AHF is not engaged in any campaign to shut down porn production in CA? You must be on the payroll there because that is the biggest crock of you know what. AHF is clearly trying to shut down porn in CA and they are doing it at the expense of the tax payers by using the Cal/OSHA agencies complaint system to file numerous frivolous complaints that have backed up the agencies whole complaint investigation system meaning other real workplace complaints that could result in injuries to worker who actually have no say or control over the situation, unlike porn stars who do have the ability to refuse to do a non condom scene. I’m not sure what you call what AHF is doing if you don’t see what it is clear their intent is, to shut down the production of porn in the state of CA.

  7. Surprisingly he’s still alive. Well that’s a karma for him to put some TRASHY studios like CocksureMen and Straight Guys For Gay Eyes. TIM and EricVideos are the only bareback studios that matter to me.

  8. HAHA, but in all honesty that sucks. AHF really want to invest money attacking porn companies instead of just using it to fund actual programs to help people.

  9. Is this just a California situation? There are other condomless sites in other areas of the country that don’t seem to be affected. I assume all states have OSHA, so why are they just targeting California? I do mean these as serious questions and not “hate” responses like so many on this site.

    1. Yes and no. The AHF has been targeting companies in California and I think has probably gotten into bed (hope they used condoms!) with someone at CAL/OSHA. I vaguely recall them going after a studio in Florida a while back. They also responded to KINK.com’s move to Nevada by filing complaints with Nevada’s OSHA against them.
I just think it is so sad that this is how a organization dedicated to AIDS and helping people living with HIV is spending their time and money. Michael Weinstein must have not been loved as a child.

    2. You can only legally produce porn in California and New Hampshire, so that is why many other states don’t seem to be affected. All the porn shot in AZ, Kink’s move to NV, and all the stuff shot in FL is all shot illegally, no matter if they use condoms or not, so the OSHA in those states aren’t going to enforce safety regulations for an illegal industry. According to the letter of the law.
