When is someone going to tell James Franco and Seth Rogen that their fake gay romance is not funny, was never funny, and doesn’t serve any purpose other than making gay love look goofy? How has this not been decried as a gay version of blackface or minstrelsy?
Wait… is this the new #gayface?
It started with a parody of Kimye’s “Bound II” video, and I’ll admit it was mildly amusing then, because it came at the expense of the most annoying couple of our generation.
But it hasn’t stopped there. In a new interview with V Man that comes out in March, Franco interviews Rogen, and the accompanying artwork is a series of “HOTSEX” collages that he created himself. See them here:
I don’t get James Franco. I don’t understand why he’s so obsessed with gay culture that he made an utterly hollow movie about gay leather sex. But frankly, I also don’t really care. What I do care about is that these are hetero actors who, with the panache of fifth-graders, are stealing our imagery and our expressions of our love, solely for the purposes of their own publicity.
