Why did the US vote against the United Nations resolution banning the death penalty for gay people?
Bangladesh, Botswana, Burundi, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iraq, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates, and the United States were the 13 countries who voted against the resolution.
Even Cuba, South Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Tunisia, Nigeria, Kenya abstained rather than voting no.
Fortunately, the resolution passed on Friday anyway. But what the fuck does this say to the world about what our country really thinks of LGBTQ rights? It says we don’t deserve to be spared death for living our authentic lives. Hey #gays4trump – still standing behind your man now?
